Ooops!

Maybe Bill Clinton had one of those copies.

If anybody's ready for a new conspiracy theory, check out this page which suggests that the omission of not from the seventh commandment in this Bible printing wasn't an accident, pointing to its additional wild and rather blasphemous rendering of a clause from Deuteronomy 5:24 as "the LORD our God hath shewed us his glory and his great arse [emphasis added]," where other proper translations end this passage with greatness. The said article ascribes these "errors" to either incompetent or "sophomoric" printer's assistants, and any of us moderns whose high school yearbooks have been similarly defaced right at publication can perhaps relate.

I'm a bit skeptical because this other page about the matter indicates that the spelling of the Deuteronomy error was asse, a form of the chiefly British arse that is much more familiar to my fellow Americans, but more importantly, that no surviving Bible actually exhibits such wording; there are only three rare copies all of which conveniently have ink covering over this supposedly offending verbiage.

Time for me to go spot some chemtrails...
