Hello fellow fantasy sports leaguers, I just want to throw this out there and see what people think of my fantasy football team I drafted today. Is it good? Did I make any bad picks? We have a "keeper" league", so I will show you my keepers, then my draft picks. There is a roster of 15 spots, so here it goes:

KEEPERS:

QB Peyton Manning
RB Adrian Peterson (Minnesota)
RB Maurice Jones-Drew
WR Marvin Harrison
WR Reggie Wayne
WR Greg Jennings
DEF Baltimore

DRAFT PICKS:

RB Michael Turner
WR Chris Chambers
TE Heath Miller
QB Matt Schaub
WR Jabar Gaffney
RB Lendale White
WR Devin Hester
K David Akers

What do you think?

not bad...

Not a big fan of having both Colts WRS ...Harrison may never be the same if his injury plus age plus Gonzalez will take bigger roll. When Colts roll you are great, when colts stumble you will most likely lose.

Your WR's are also my biggest concern. I'm not sold on Greg Jennings if Favre isn't going to be the QB.

Thats a really good team.

I agree with FlockofSeagulls. Now might be the time to trade Marvin. Looks like you could use a tight end.

Keep a close eye on Michael Turner the first couple weeks. Either he'll do really well behind that O-Line, in which case you should trade him to someone who's desperate for a RB, or I could seem him having a really frustrating year like LaMont Jordan did last year, in which case you should cut him and use the roster spot on a more promising player.

Another place you may want to look at improving is DEF. I don't anticipate a great year for the Ravens' D.

Overall you did a really good job as Manning, Peterson, and Wayne are all first round-type picks, and I think Jennings will flourish with Rodgers at the helm.

Good Luck.

S'up Primetime?! You have a very strong nucleus there!! You certainly seem to know fantasy football... and I believe your running backs are very strong... Having Turner and White as your backups may really pay off, as I expect at least one of them to have a great season... You can't go wrong with the Manning/Wayne combo, and I suspect Harrison will do better than people think if he's not suspended this season...

I believe a couple of your WRs may be really good this year, particularly Chambers and Jennings... The only question mark this season might be the Balt. defense, but they have proved people wrong for several years... They should still be a solid defense, but I'm not so sure they are still elite.

Good team!

we are not even through training camp yet, so right now, it is impossible to say.

you have some solid keepers, and you obviously made a great pick with peterson last year. how many teams in your league? you are at a bit of a risk with harrison and the colts bye week is pretty much a guaranteed loss but your team looks like a fantasy playoff team (if you use a playoff structure).

Thanks for the input folks. I think my team is pretty solid, not spectacular, but solid. My league consists of 10 teams. The way the points work is probably different from most fantasy leagues. Here's a quick breakdown on how the points work in our league.

QB:
1 point every completion
-1 for every incomplete
1 point every 30 yards
6 points every TD pass, or rushing TD
-1 for every sack
1 point every 10 yards rushing
2 points every 2 point conversion TD pass or rushing TD
-2 for every INT
5 bonus points for every 350 yards passing

RB:
1 point every 10 yards rushing
1 point every reception
1 point every 20 yards receiving
6 points every TD rushing, rushing or receiving
-2 for every fumble lost
5 bonus points for every 175 yards rushing

WR/TE:
1 point every reception
1 point every 20 yards receiving
1 point every 10 yards rushing
-2 for every fumble lost
5 bonus points for every 200 yards receiving

DEF:
2 points every fumble recovery or INT
1 point every sack
2 points every safety
10 points for 0 points allowed
7 points 1 - 6 points allowed
4 points 7 - 13 points allowed
1 point 14 - 20 points allowed
0 points 21 - 27 points allowed
-1 points 28+ points allowed

K:
5 points every field goal 50+ yards made
4 points for every field goal 40+ yards made
3 points for every field goal 39-below made
1 point for every PAT
-3 for every PAT or field goal missed (under 30 yards)
-1 for every field goal missed (49 - 30 yards)

Return yards:

1 point every 20 yards returned (kickoff and punt return yards combined)
Bonus 5 points if return yards equal 100 or more.
Points go to Defense and individual player

That's how the points work. If you look at how the QB/WR points work, you can rack up a lot if you have a very efficient QB (Manning) and his top targets (Harrison/Wayne). For example, If Manning throws for 2 TDs, 1 to Harrison and 1 to Wayne, that's an automatic 28 points just like that. That's why I have the Colts combo.

RBs could also have a great day if they run well. Every 20 yards rushing for a point didn't seem lucrative, so we made it that the RBs can rack up a ton of points.

This is our custom designed league and as you can tell, it is different from most standard fantasy leagues. This is our 6th season doing this. My record? Well, I was in a title game in 4 of the previous 5 seasons, with one championship. Not too shabby....

Thanks for your input fellas, and this year is going to be another doozy.

What's up Sammy? It was cool meeting you and I hope we can "chat" here on the forum more.

not enough depth... if you lose AP to injury you'll be fortunate to finish .500 in your league.

I like Reggie Wayne as a number 1. Jeremy Shockey's value just got a huge boost after being traded to New Orleans, so pick him up if people neglected him in your league or trade Harrison for him. Shockey will put up Jason Witten type numbers from last year this year in New Orleans as long as he and Drew Brees are healthy. You can take that to the bank!!

Depth wins fantasy football. Your starting lineup is ok, but you're guaranteed a loss when the Colts have a bye and that loss could be what kills your playoff chances. A lot of your starters would be bench guys on my team. I don't like Harrison, MJD, Baltimore D, Akers, and Miller as my starters.

from his draft picks i assume shockey was a keeper on one of the other teams in the league. I think Jones Drew is fine as a #2 back.
