By now, some of you must have seen the remake of Dawn of the Dead. At the end, the survivors take a boat to an island. During this trip, they use a video camera to tape their journey. In one scene, they come across an abandoned motorboat with a cooler on it. When they open the cooler(to their horror) they find a severed, snapping, snarling head of a Zombie.
This scene got me thinking. What exactly IS the story with that head? How did it get there?
So, now I would like to open this thread to anyone who saw that scene, and might have a theory.
I'll start us off:
During the tumultuous last few days of humanity, before the living dead began to rule the landscape, there were survivors who took advantage of the situation. One such person, was your average, garden variety psycho.
He saw, not a civilization coming to an end, nor did he see everything he's ever cared about go to hell. He saw an opportunity to go on a killing spree.
How many potential survivors fell to this dastardly criminal, no one will ever know. What is certain, however, is that somewhere along the line, he ran afoul of the living dead.
Now, a normal person would be horrified, but this man sees a certain beautiful peversion of life in these flesh eating monstrosities. But he is a killer no matter what.
However his first encounter went, he came away with one of the most passionately beautiful trophies to date...The still "living" head of his last "victim."
Now, he may be a psychotic dirt bag, but he isn't stupid. He knows that if he sticks around, he'll sooner or later become Zombie food. So he hauls his twisted mal-adjusted ass to the marina. He finds a boat and a cooler for his "precious" and off to sea he heads.
Sometime, during the trip, he gets bored. So he decides to check out his new trophy. And, like your typical B-movie psycho, he begins to talk to it, telling it how pretty it is. Of course, he is so overwhelmed by his own psychoticness, he decides to stroke it's pretty face.
SNAP!
The creature decides, instead, to lock on to his hand with it's lovely teeth.
Our mister psycho dosen't like this too much and pries the teeth off. He then closes the lid and continues his trip in silence.
Unfortunately, in a matter of hours, he, himself dies and becomes a member of the living dead. A small motorboat isn't exactly considered prime rampaging territory, so it does a nose-dive over the side.
A few days later, the boat is found by the movie's heroes.
Well, that's my theory. I would now like to open the floor to the rest of you.
What is your theory?
