Well, it is official. All my time piloting computers at home and at work have finally caught up with me.
I have developed Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in my right wrist. I am typing really slow because putting just about any pressure on my hand or wrist (such as the pressure from typing, or tearing up a credit card application, as I discovered today) causes intense and sharp pain. So I am doing everything with my left hand these days. Thankfully, I am left handed, so this doesn't affect my professional life all that much, but I am astounded by the amount of things that I regularly do with my right hand that I simply cannot do with my left!
Going to the bathroom is an ordeal, as is using a knife, scratching my back, opening ziploc bags, jars, and, a certain male activity will just have to be put on the wayside for a little while.
To be brutally honest, the pain is pretty awful, so take my advice and exercise your fingers and wrists a little before and after you do anything that you do regularly, be it stapling papers, typing numbers into a spreadsheet, keeping your fire engine clean, whatever.
Well, I'm off to take some more tylenols.
keep it real folks.
