Mets fans, I know Iam getting mine for being arrogant to you in 2007. I want to extend my apologies for that. I know I was an ass, and, in about 24 hours or less, I suspect I will be eating my words, dearly.

As baseball fans on this forum who have read my posts about baseball know, I am a Braves fan. "Hangs head in shame", and, as baseball fans also know, the Braves are almost there with completing one of the worst collapses in baseball history.

A 10-1-2 game wild card lead in late July, an 8-1-2 game wild card lead in late August, is now all .., going.. going.. all gone! This, thanks to horrific play by the Braves, and red hot play by the Cards.

The Phillies, in a series in which they have already clinched best record, and have nothing to play for, have beaten the Braves in the first two games of this series, in the Braves home park.

Yes, the Braves have their best pitcher in Tim Hudson going tomorrow, and yes, the Phillies arent pitching their best in Joe Blanton, but, I still have lost faith.

I think one of two things will happen. Either the Braves will lose tomorrow, the Cards will win, and it will be over tomorrow.. or.. the Braves and Cards will both lose tomorrow, making it needed for a one game playoff in St Louis on Thursday, that the Cards will then win.

Fans should have faith, but, after the way this team has played, and with as big of a lead as they have blown, I'm sure one can understand why i dont. I will be shocked if the Braves clinch the wild card tomorrow night, with a win by them, and a Cards loss. I see that as the least likely scenario.

after your last rant a while back where you bailed on Atlanta I don't think most here consider you a TRUE Braves fan . No offense but your just another '' fair weather fan '' in my book.

Flock, I am a "true Braves fan", and have been since 1983. I used to go to Shea Stadium with my father in the 1980s when the Braves were losing 100 games a year, and root for them. I'm sorry if I'm pissed that my team blew such a lead. I'll still be their fan, always, Wild Card or not, last place or not. I havent "bailed" on them, as you say. Go read the AJC.com message board blogs. A lot of "true fans" for decades, are pissed at them.

Yeah, magna. I can understand why you're disappointed. My gut tells me they are either going to lose tonight, or lose a Wild Card playoff with the Cards tomorrow.

One thing that does irritate me.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution website has fan sports blogs. There is one extremely irritating troll there named "Phillies, Class Of The NL", that is rubbing the possibility of the Braves missing the playoffs in our faces. I'd call him "Classless". We know his team is good. However, from 2001 to 2005, when the Braves were still winning divsion titles every year, and the Phillies were missing the playoffs, I didnt make up a screen name called "Braves, 14 straight division titles", and go to a Philly newspaper blog site, and taunt their fans.

As we know, sometimes Wild Card teams win the World Series. Right now I hope we just make it into the playoffs, but I would laugh my ass off if the Braves do make it, get hot like some Wild Card teams have, and beat the Phillies asses in the NLCS. I'm not saying thats going to happen. My gut says the Braves will either miss the playoffs, or go down in the first round, but I'd sure love it if we could beat the Phillies in the NLCS if both teams get that far. I wonder where this troll would be then.

The collapse is complete, and it figures it would happen in this way. Stud closer Kimbrel messes up a lead in the ninth, Phils get lead run in 13th, Braves ground into DP to end the game, and their season.

I'll still be a Braves fan in 2012, and likely for the rest of my life, but, this collapse was shameful. I dont know where they go from here. They couldnt even win a game against a team that had already clinched, and had nothing to play for.

Congrats to the Wild Card Cardinals. The way both the Phils and Cards are playing now, the NLDS between those two should be a great series.
