My friends, I'm here today to talk about a malady that is plaguing our fair community. It is an insidious disease, striking down its victims without warning as they innocently open their email and web browsers. If you belong to the Pagan, SCA, SF fandom, tickling, or polyamory communities, you are at risk, for this ailment has reached epidemic proportions among those vulnerable populations.
Of course I'm talking about Post-Dramatic Stress Disorder, or PDSD.
Chances are you or someone you know is suffering from PDSD at this very moment. Look for these signs and symptoms:
Were you shocked to learn that One Life to Live is not a reality show?
Do otherwise innocent phrases leave you curled up and shivering in any nearby closet? Common triggers are "Do you know who I saw at the party last night?" and "You've just got to read this post!"
Have you or anyone on your friends' list fallen in love more than three times in the past year?
Were more than two of those affairs with anyone else on your friends' list?
Have you developed an allergic reaction to your cell phone's ringtone?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you are suffering from PDSD. But help IS available: just call 1-800-42SCREAM - Operators are standing by to help you, or at least to listen to the latest gossip. And please, if you don't get help from us, get help somewhere.
