You know, that isn't even remotely described with the word murder. A cow's carcass in a slaughterhouse is treated with more respect than this kid's. And why? Why was this kid shot several times, had his kneecaps broken, burned in a sleeping bag, and tossed into paint cans? Because his 15 year old ex-girlfriend's new pedophile boyfriend had some beef with him.

This was so grotesquely disturbing that I actually question it's validity. If someone can actually determine whether this is fact or fiction, I would greatly appreciate it.

Their best hope is that a plague wipes out humanity and that one or two of them survive to escape from jail somehow...and the possibilities of that happening are...remote.

Oh, absolutely. My only reservation for the death penalty is the forensic science is not infallible, and innocent people could easily be sent to their deaths for a crime they didn't commit.

Well, we'll see. So far in my life, being empathetic/sympathetic hasn't really gotten me anywhere, and I'm not inclined to believe that, that will be changing in the near future. They can't interact with human being in a normal way, much less comport themselves in a civil manner in wider society. They view shoot-'em-up vidjagames and death-before-dishonor Japanese anime messages as a higher importance than the values of human life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness that are the cornerstones of Western values.

(Disclaimer: I'm not insulting Eastern ideals. I know that in the 21st Century, Japan, China, South Korea, and the bulk of Asian cultures understand the value of human life. Yeah. I'm saying that Red China values life more than a section of American youth. I'm also saying that these kids misinterpret the stuff and get fucked up in the head because they're fucking shut-ins who don't even know how to say hello properly. There's one guy I know who can't seem to comprehend that he has to escape the pressures of an overly-forceful family and start his own life. He had his girlfriend move from another state, and then agrees with his folks that he should only be "allowed" to see her twice a week for a few hours because it's what they say.

It's disgusting, in my opinion.

It's this spinelessness that leads to the kind of behavior of destroying a human being just because they had the audacity to be your girlfriend's ex. Seriously. What. The. Fuck.

I speak for the 'Fucked-up in the head shut-ins' when I say that we aren't all quite like that. There isn't a correlation between not going outside and wanting to chop your girlfriend's ex-boyfriend into little bits and stuff him into paint cans. There is, however, a correlation between abused children who grew up in slummy neighborhoods with shitty parents, and psychotic serial killers. There is also the fact that this matter develops on a psychological level, so it is not the same for every kid. Some kids play video games when they're younger and grow up to be a multi-billion dollar business owners who developed their own operating system, and others grow up to be Ted Bundy.

On a side note, it is abysmally unlikely for a 'shut-in' to actually have a girlfriend as opposed to the jocky, drug-peddling, ghetto kids.

This is hardly unique, even in Florida. People have been murdering for the flimsiest of reasons forever, or even for no reason at all. Serial killers kill mostly because it satisfies some sick need, not necessarily because they even hate their victims. They just have absolutely no empathy for their victims. This particular murder is born out of hatred, but the sheer stupidity of it is remarkable because (a) the main actor already had the girl, so why not be satisfied with that? And (b) what was going through the so-called minds of the 20 year old and the 37 year old who went along with this madness?

I completely agree. (Although I also agree with Mash that not ALL shut-ins are like that.)

I have serious fear for and of the generations coming up. Not in that "you damn kids and your rock and roll!" sort of way, but more in a severe cultural shift sort of way. In our screwed-up society where we combine a lust for freedom with a hyper-christian fear of everything good, we've managed to cement our culture as one that hates sex but adores violence.

We go to great lengths, even lobbying our government incessantly to change law, in order to keep our kids from the horror of seeing a boobie or even THINKING of touching someone of one's own gender...and even breed a fear of contraception into them...it's abstinence or nothing, right guys?

Then, we rake in HUGE corporate profits putting out video games that give you points for shooting cops, running over pedestrians and scoring with hookers. THIS we protect as a freedom.

Then, we give people who we don't give a driver's license's responsibility to the ability to access anything, everything and anyone in the world. At any time, from anywhere. All day, every day. With no ability to develop actual real social skills...to the point where they actually think screennames are "true friendships".

So, we've bred a generation of sexually-repressed, hyper-active individuals with no social skills, no understanding of real violence, a free pass that nothing they do is their fault and the ability to organize with any other nutcases they can find, anywhere and at any time.

And, to make it worse...we also rake in huge corporate bucks marketing the worst things we can to them...stronger and stronger "energy drinks" (barely legal amphetamines), energy gum, double-caffeine coolattas and even caffeine-and-taurine-laced beef jerky. (I'm not making this up, it exists.)

Not sure where a lot of you are from, but I actually see a lot LESS repression in youth~ especially in lower grades, and a huge~ HUGE difference in perspective toward same-sex couples amongst kids as young as elementary school age than you give credit. This sounds like a very regional based perspective amongst some of you on this particular topic~ much like it's always been a regional based thing.

I definitely find the hazard in the digital era making it difficult for youth to have real social skills~ or an understanding of real violence, racism, etc. Reality still sets in eventually, the dysphoria I don't think is so grand that they can't operate as normal people. They too will fuck up, and get hurt just like we did. As a Gen-Y~ I grew up at the start of this whole mess, and I could smell it coming~ but it's gotten better in my eyes, not worse.

It's a fine line, but it really can sound like a 'kids and your rock and roll' thing when you toe it that closely and not look at everything properly. Then again, we are looking at the world from entirely different parts of the globe, with entirely different experiences.
