"The Eagles Dumped Their Head Coach After Missing The Playoffs in Consecutive Seasons".

I think this speaks volumes about what was going on behind the scenes.

Because he had 10 Wins in his each of his first 2 seasons, and had a chance at the playoffs toward the end of this season. And he gets fired before the season even ends.
