We shall see, my friend. We shall see.

It only took us 5 games to knock you off last year. Maybe we'll let you have another game this year and win it in 6. 😉

Do you still have nightmares of Matt Stairs in your sleep?

Nope. This is a new year with a new chance, a chance for Andre Ethier to give nightmares to the Phillies. 😀

I have a feeling the Yankees are winning it all this year. I really hope that doesn't happen, but it seems that the odds favor it...

A bases-loaded walk wasn't quite the scenario that I envisioned, but I'll take it. :couch:

As a Giants fan, I must say, "Go Phillies!!"

And as a Dodger fan, I must say this: Whatever happens in the rest of the NLCS, it brings joy to my heart that the hated jints didn't make it to post-season play this year. 55 years and counting since the hated jints last won the World Series. :couch:

J-Rrrrrrroooooolllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Broxton was scared shitless of giving up another bomb to Stairs. He should have went right after him and it came back to bite him in the ass.

It's not over yet, but it does look very good for the Phillies. I had a feeling at the beginning of the postseason that the World Series would be Yankees-Phillies. It looks like that may well happen.

Even if the Phillies do win the NLCS, that will likely be their last celebration this year, because, if the Yankees win the ALCS, they should beat the Phillies in the World Series.

Congrats Philly (from a Pittsburgh fan, ya, I know). No, I am not sick lol. Just was rooting for a fellow Pennsylvania team 🙂

Congratulations to the Philadelphia Phillies, 2009 National League Champions.

They have a chance to be the first NL team in more than 30 years to win consecutive World Series. (The last team to do so was the Cincinnati Reds, 1975 and 1976.)

I'm hoping for a great World Series. I would love for it to go seven games, with the Phils on top, of course, but I don't want to see humiliations, on any side. Both teams match up well. If we have a warm spell next week, the home runs will be zooming out of both ballparks...

As I was watching the game, they showed Jason Werth and I said out loud, "HOLY CRAP! THAT'S ADAM "EDGE" COPELAND!!

Separated at birth? 😀

My two favorite teams are the Giants and whoever is playing the Dodgers... and guess what? My team usually wins. 😉 Way to go, Phillies! I'm shocked Man-Ram wasn't already in the shower in the top of the 9th.

...and we would have had the World Series if Dusty Baker hadn't handed Russ Ortiz that ball in the 7th.

Ya know as many times as I've seen Jayson Werth, I never really thought about the similarity between him and Edge before. But you're right! Good call man!

The phrases "would have," "could have," and "should have" are the usual refrain of teams (and fans of teams) that have lost. In actual fact the 2002 Anaheim Angels, as they were then called, managed by former Dodger star Mike Scioscia, beat your &^%@ing hated jints in the World Series that year. In game 6, to which you refer, the Angels overcame a 5-0 deficit to win, 6-5, thanks in part to the Russ Ortiz as you noted. :couch:

It caused me to celebrate greatly. :couch: :yayzorz: :couch:

To get this thread back on topic, I will be rooting for the NL Phillies against either the Yankees or the Angels. 😀

Well damn. You just don't give a shit about the Giants, do you? I'm guessing that rooting for the NL goes out the window when the Giants make it to the World Series.

That is correct. I will gladly root for any of 15 NL teams in the World Series, but never for the hated jints.

For the 2009 World Series, go Phillies. 😀
