There is a bunch of us who are kind of "regulars" who get to most of the munches, but there is always a new face or two, and I don't think anyone has ever had a problem being included or feeling comfortable and welcome 🙂 If those of us who know eachother well didn't want to meet new people, we'd just make private plans to go out to dinner together 🙂 Munches aren't only for new people to get active in the community, but for "regulars" to meet new people, too! 🙂
We've been to a few different places, but they're all fairly similar. We all sit around a big table and chat, eat, get to know eachother 🙂 This one is at Shady Maple, which is a buffet, so people are usually too stuffed to move for a while 😛 so we all sit around shooting the breeze for awhile after we're done. We've had some at Dave & Buster's in Philly, where we disperse after we eat to go play games. Most recently we ate at a restaurant in Philly that I can't remember the name of, and then walked around the corner to a comedy club and saw Hal Sparks perform 🙂
As far as tickling, there typically isn't any. If there are some people there who know eachother well, playful pokes might be exchanged, but nothing inappropriate or that would attract any attention from others. We are in vanilla surroundings, after all. 🙂
Overall, munches are a super fun, no pressure way to get to know some people from the community in your area. If you're on the fence, I highly recommend you go! It's only a couple hours of your time, and I honestly doubt you'll regret it 🙂
