Ok, I am not going to name any names here just because that isn't my style. But here's the deal.

The wonderful moderators of the TMF have created more here than just a porn forum. What they have created here is a community, a safe haven of sorts for people who enjoy tickling more than most people do to come and speak openly about their ideas and desires with the almost 100% guarantee that they will be accepted. Some people can't express their feelings in their daily life because of the atmosphere in which they live so for them this is a release of an aspect of their life that they don't normally get to live.

When you are on the TMF, especially the chat room, please be respectful of each other. There is no reason to insult other people that are on here. If you don't feel that you don't have anything nice to say about a particular comment that someone makes, then keep your replies to yourself. If you don't like it here, then leave, plain and simple.

This is the second time in 2 weeks that I have referred people to "The Golden Rule" that is posted in every section of the forums. This rule isn't just applied to the forums, but also to everyday life. So you may want to consider memorizing it if you have a difficult time being a decent human being.

I would like to thank the moderator's for their hard work and intentions with this website. Hopefully it will eventually turn out to be exactly what you intended it to be.

lol, great point. I remember when this place used to be called "The Flame-Free Forum." It isn't so much anymore, and I think a large part of it is etiquette regarding typing. Remember people...text online has no inflection, so if you're joking....make sure everyone knows it.

Shadow makes good points, and, again, without naming any names, I know that there was a certain person in the chatroom last night, who was insulting not only me, but also many others, with no mods present in the room, to witness, or control, his behavior. It is really best to put troublemakers like that on ignore. Also, the admins and mods do put forth tireless efforts, for no compensation, to ensure that this site runs smoothly. For this, we owe them thanks, and, to be civil to each other, both in chat, and on the board.
Shadow, my friend, one last point. I have learned in my four plus years here, to accept the unfortunate reality, that there will be times, when troublemakers will crop up. It is not pleasant, but, I have found that the best way to deal with people such as the person who was causing all the trouble in the chat last night, is to put them on ignore, and not give them attention. Attention is what they want, and, if everyone put them on ignore, and paid them no mind, they would eventually tire of being a jerk, and leave. It just seems the best way, under the circumstances.

I personally think that this idea of only saying nice things is total rubbish. We're all adults here, who live in the real world, where there is no Golden Rule. Why then should we create some sort of fake environment that exists no where in the world except preschool? Are we that incapable of taking a few criticisms, low blows, some mockery?

This Golden Rule, only say nice things crap only reinforces the idea that people are weak and need to be sheltered from foul language and criticism.
There is a big difference between the TMF being a "safe place" (which is should be) and it being a place where immature children who lack the social skills to hear something negative said need to be coddled.

Anyone who cares so deeply what someone says about them on an internet forum, let alone an internet tickling forum, is a deeply flawed and failed person. Isn't it ironic that we are all here because we love tickling, but most of the people here cannot laugh at themselves. For a bunch of people devoted to making people laugh, maybe we should take ourselves less seriously.

In conclusion, the Golden Rule is an awful thing. It hurts the TMF and all its memebers by assuming we need to be treated like weak little children, and it should be abolished. The TMF should be modeled on the real world, because the real world works and makes you a better person.

When some lout bitches and moans because he doesn't have a bevy of yesmen agreeing with his eevry word, that's immature and childish.

I fail to see how reporting the morons that troll here is "coddling and pre-schoolerish" Doesn't reporting them to the mods make this site more open for intelligent discussion rather than degenerating into a flame war?

I see your confusion with my argument, and thankyou for your response.

There are jerks. In the TMF. In the world. They will do things that upset the non-jerks. But the highest valued thing in the world or the TMF, is not protection from jerks, it is the rights and freedom of the jerk to be a jerk. There's nothing I hate more than a childish jerk who goes around spreading negativity and putting people down especially one who makes the ladies feel bad... EXCEPT, a world where that jerk is not free to express himself or herself.

If you have a problem with someone, don't go crying to the mods. They're not your parents and really have better things to do than care if soandso is "saying things that are not nice". If you do encounter a situation where someone is being a jerk then you have the options to ignore, not care or use your own influence and goodwill among the members of the TMF to ostracize this person from the group, which is how things should be done. Don't look to the government for protection; handle your problems yourself, with the help of you friends.

I will say, there is a role for safety imposed by the mods and that is if a person begins to make threats against another human being or if it is clear that they are only a member of the TMF to ruin other people's experience and have a long history of making problems. But if someone wants to look at the pics of you tickling your girlfriend and make fun of you guys, then he has the right to do that, even it would make said person, an immature jerk. But it is even worse and more immature to cry and whine about it, instead of not caring or using your own power to handle that individual.

The whole idea behind the Golden Rule is,i believe,debate the point,not the person.What Shadow is talking about is childish immature actions by people with little or no social skills.Everyone is allowed to express an opinion as long as they do so in a civil manner.I'm sure Chosen will recall what went on in the suggestions sub-forum not long ago,concerning the gay member who left the TMF because of the harrasment he was subjected to by some members.

Not everyone here is going to like each other or get along,thats life.As Shadow said,if you dont care for someone move on.Its not like you are forced to interact with anyone here.

Edit to post.The mods are the friends of everyone in good standing here it seems to me,if not in a literal sence.I have reported some posts that,had they occured in the real world could have resulted in a fist fight at best.To live in a civil society we must have rules,and those that chose not to abide by those rules need to be removed.

To put it simply and most directly, this place is Not America. There is no charter of rights garrenteing you freedom of speech or expression. This is not a Democracy, this is a privetly owned forum. It is a dictatorship where the people with the money and power make the rules.

However, this isn't a "Fiddle Castro" dictatorship by any means. People are generally welcome to express their views and opinions, so long as they are in conjunction with the Golden rule, which the Mods generally don't follow to the letter, so you can still post pretty freely.

Their are always other forums out there that don't have mods where one can go if they are feeling to constrained by the "Golden Rule."

We,as a society impose standards all the time,also known as laws.Most people agree its wrong to break into your house,steal your car etc.

And yes we have freedom of speach in this country but even then there are limits.Try making a joke at an airport about having a bomb or hijacking a plane and see where that gets you.An extreme example yes,but i think you see what i mean.

And as someone else pointed out,the TMF is not a democracy,you are free to abide by the rules or go elsewhere.

The TMF does not charge a monthly membership fee, but it is still a private forum. That is, people pay to have it running, and they make its rules. If you don't like that, then use your own money to fund your own forum with no rules or with rules of your own devising.

I like the way you think, fella. You are absolutely correct.
All I am saying is, if I ran the TMF, which I would be very good at because I'm really smart and cool, then there would be no Golden Rule because I believe that people ought to be allowed to say whatever they feel even if it is hurtful.
I am not challenging the authority of those who run the TMF to impose said law, I am challenging everyone on the forum who gets upset when people make fun of them and then goes and cries to a mod.
TMF leadership = cool.
The vast majority of the people on TMF = very cool.
The loser weaklings that take themselves too seriously = not cool.

C'est la vie, as they say in France...

...and, as it is also said, art imitates life, and the Internet does too. There are always going to be twits and fools in chat rooms, ones who make the distinction obvious from the first absurd things that come out of their mouths. And that is why God, and also the hard-working, talented mods of this forum, invented the "ignore" feature. Honestly, the list of chatters I ignore the moment I see them bound onto the chatroom scene has likely hit double-figures by now, and I find that that one simple action improves my chat experience exponentially. And for that matter, I've found the people I'm closest to on this forum have added me to their MSN, Yahoo!, AIM or any combination thereof, so in the end the chatroom is much like real life: ignore the jerks and life becomes far more enjoyable. I hope everyone grows to have as much fun on the forum as I have and can wade their way through the morons. Take care, and very topical, necessary thread.
