pics, avatars, etc...

Alright...granted i've been officially using the internet consistantly for just over a week, but I've run into a slight difficulty. First of all, I can't get any of my custom avatars to work. I both found and made some that are the right size, but they still don't appear. Do they have to be made in adobe or something exclusively? Secondly, I'm having the same problem with any pics I try to put in my signature or put into a thread. The main problem here is that I have no idea how to do this *feels dumb*. Ugh...if only a computer were like a guitar....
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

What type of file are you saving them as? is it Bitmap (.bmp)? They often do not work. Try saving as JPEG (.jpg) or GIF (.gif). Same goes for the sig pic. Sig pics you have to have hosted elsewhere, as the TT will not host those for you. If that doesn't fix it, let me know.
