Hey guys 🙂 So I'm in the beginning stages of planning my wedding *yay!* and I was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on what worked/didn't work for them, or something they wish they'd thought of before hand, problems they ran into at the last minute etc etc, hopefully to make my life a little easier 🙂
Thanks in advance!!!

well first of all congratulations and good luck..hmm it all depends on what type of wedding you wish...will it be a big wedding? small? inside or outside? a church wedding? you need to be a bit more specific...when i got married, there was so much debate as to whom to invite etc...that we just said skip that...and had a small church wedding with only my sister and his brother there...david was so damn nervous anyway that a large wedding would have done him in lol...and instead of the big wedding, my parents gave us things...which meant alot more to us..such as furniture...a tv...a car..etc...

my sister had the big fairy tale wedding that i always had wished for, and to tell you the truth..i enjoyed it far better than if it had been my own..david's band played for the reception which was in a very ritzy hotel...

so it all depends on what you want involved in your wedding..

A second-hand tip from my brother's wedding: Do not under any circumstances allow a friend who is an amateur photographer do your wedding pictures. Not even if you love your friend's work and he or she will do it as a favor. Hire a professional photographer.

There's too much! WAY too much! 😀 Once you start getting into the planning stages, you'll see what I mean. 😛

I think the best thing I did, as far as planning my wedding, was invite some of my recently-married friends over for dinner. They could show my now-husband and I the planning resources they used, recommend local vendors for photography, catering, flowers, cake, music, etc., and generally help us understand how the whole thing was going to go down. It was incredibly helpful. 🙂

I guess the one isolated piece of advice I would give is: when you're planning out your wedding day, set aside some time for you and your new husband to spend together, just the two of you. So much of the day is about running around making everyone else happy, that you really need some downtime where you can be together, and just bask in being married. :smilelove

auw thanks for all your help guys 🙂 i'm so excited - i hardly know where to start!!
xoxo
p.s. if you're from the PA area see my other thread about photography/videography 🙂 Thanks again!!!

i know there are more married people around here than this!! share the knowledge wealth guys!
xoxo

I wish I could help you. My wife and I eloped. Neither of us wanted the hassle of a big wedding. We took remarkably little heat for this.

Hi Skip!

Mazeltov of your impending nuptuals.

I too am in the process of planning my wedding for next year in PA.

I've found the reception hall and the rabbi. Just put a deposit on the "save the date" cards and invitations....found bridesmaids dresses that everyone can live with....and weathered the first bout of family drama.

The rest...Oy Vay!....I'm trying not to freak at the magnitude of everything else that needs to be accomplished within the next 12 months.

I have found that utilizing a planner book or software program of some kind is a great help.

If you would like to share notes....a nervous break-down...exchange advice....etc..PM me anytime.

:twohugs:
