Opening Day for baseball 2011 is finally here. (Okay, I know for some teams it will be on Friday, but my Braves open tomorrow in DC at 105pm).

The problem: A forecast of cold rain in DC tomorrow. Hopefully, it wont be too bad, and they will play anyway. Almost six months is long enough to wait!

Finally, its here, and I'm sure all my fellow baseball fans like mils, and others, are looking forward to the 2011 regular season!

I was happy. My Braves played yesterday, and shut out Washington 2-0. New Braves manager Freddi Gonzalez used several pitchers to do so, but, a win is a win. Hopefully, Atlanta will have 90 odd more this year.

Now today, the Braves nemesis, the Phillies, get to open their season at Citizens Bank Park in Philly in weather of about.. oh 40 degrees, and cold, overcast conditions, with maybe some rain. I doubt the Phillies will have much rain on their season this year, though, with that pitching staff.

In any case, it's good to see baseball back.

The Orioles just swept the Tampa Rays and both the pitching and defense looked phenomenal in the process. Obviously, it's early, but it's nice to see given the previous 13 years of losing. There might be something to this Showalter effect, who is now 37-23 as O's manager, dating back to last season.

O's 4 - 0 and oddly enough, none of our big additions (sans Hardy) haven't really done anything.
