Playoffs?!?!

I never thought I would be able to celebrate a decision made by the NCAA regarding major college football, but they finally took a step in the right direction.

A 4 team playoff will happen starting in the 2014-15 season. I would have rather seen an 8 team format, but 4 is a start. They will be selected via committee a lot like how College Basketball seeds its brackets.

I'm excited to get rid of this BCS crap and go into something we should have always had which is a playoff.

Now all I can say is...GO SEC!!

Love it, its about time, the only question I have since it will be decided by committee is will they screw a Utah,Boise,Hawaii,TCU etc type school if they go undefeated and instead take a LSU,Bama,Auburn etc with 1 or 2 losses because of strength of schedule

Strength of schedule is a big part of it along with head to head matchups, win/loss record, and conference champions.

yes and no, a team like Boise St can't change the fact that no one out of conference will play them and it should be the 4 best records not the four best teams based on opinion

I agree with you, but that is what is said to be part of the selection of the four teams. Boise is going to join a power conference in football. They should join the PAC 12 or Big 12. I have no idea why they would want anything to do with the Big East in football.

I think this is a good start but until there are more teams involved it will be little different than it is now. Somebody will always think they are getting screwed.

that can always be said though, look at college basketball even if football went to 8 teams, 9 would say it was screwed.. if they went to 16, 17 would say they were screwed etc

This is true but with higher numbers the less credibility the claim would have. Does a team number 17 really have a strong case for winning the title? Not nearly as much as team 5 or 4, etc. The vegas odds would tell you so. Also with NCAA basketball any team could win their conference tournament and earn themselves a bid leaving no doubt to their claim.

I agree completely, just saying that is how it would be, it could be the entire top 25..but 26 would bitch, would their claim mean anything? No, but it wouldn't stop the school from bitching about it, and it constantly being on ESPN for a week ... was Fresno St, Marshall etc screwed
