I asked this about six months ago when my father in law was admitted into the hospital with an irregular heartbeat, now it's my mother in laws (JPies mom) turn.

On Thursday, she was admitted into the hospital because of high blood sugar. Yesterday, they ran an ultrasound and the results found something irregular. Today, she underwent a CATSCAN, and as of now, we are awaiting the results. We are all keeping our fingers crossed that whatever was discovered during the ultrasound is nothing more than a benign growth.

Please send a prayer for her that the best case senario results from all this.

Our thoughts are with her as well as you and Judy....

of course you have my thoughts and also my prayers..i so wish they could come up with a cure for diabetes...

Hope your mother-in-law is feeling better soon Giant, she will be in our thoughts and prayers.

I'm already sending my good wishes her way, hope it's nothing serious. Good luck giantfan!

JPie I hope all goes well with your mom and the tests . I'll say a prayer for her .

thank you all, we won't know anything until an endoscopic type procedure tomorrow or Tuesday. hopefully the best case scenario is just an old stone blocking the bile ducts that can be corrected in this procedure, or it could be a growth that has to be bioposied, I don't like to panic until I know all the facts.

My prayers are with you all. Having gone through some issues much like this myself lately, I can relate all too well to the fear and anxiety that surrounds you at a time like this. I sincerely hope it turns out to be something easily treatable and recoverable.

hard to sleep when something major is going on, mom and I have always had our arguments and variance of opinions but I am still so close to her. Hard to think of your parents aging and their mortality. I am usually fast asleep by now, well on the weekdays..wish virtual hugs could reach across the screen cause I could sure use a few.

hon my pm box is open anytime..i know how you feel, i was that way with my mom also..yes it is hard to think of them aging..you are a fantastic daughter, i can just tell... here is a virtual hug.. :twohugs:

so they did this procedure today, an endoscopic procedure but whatever was pressing on the ducts was too big for this procedure, the doc said it is probably a tumor in her pancreas, they will do another type of procedure tomorrow to try and get the biopsy. I am trying not to worry but I am very scared.

hon my thoughts are with you...of course you are scared..it's perfectly natural......hugs JPie....

JPie, our hopes and prayers are for your Mother's well being, and for the doctors' skill in healing.

I saw that Judy updated you on the current situation so there is nothing more that I can add at this time except that i am keeping my fingers crossed that an operation is an option, and something can be done about this :grouphug:

well it has been a tough couple of weeks, my mom is finally out of the hospital for now. I took her up to Yale New Haven for more testing today, what it looks like and is most likely is pancreatic cancer, even caught in the early stages the docs said the earliest form most patients don't live beyond 5 years...and that is probably the best case scenario. I have been very down but trying to stay strong in front of my parents and kids.

More prayers coming your way hon...and I am saving a really big hug for when we next meet....... :cuddle:

I have not had the pleasure of getting to know you JPie,but God bless you and your mother. And don't give up hope,we are all keeping you and your family in our thought's and prayers.

(((((Judy))))) As Drew and Ray have already said, thoughts and prayers are continuing to come your way. I know we said we'd talk when we see you. But, feel free to give a yell if you need to talk before then.

Ann

thank you all for the support that is so much needed right now, as I try to remain strong for my parents and kids your support of me is very much appreciated.

Well time for an update.

Judy and her parents went into NYC, to visit Sloan Kattering, a hospital that specializes in cancer treatment. They had an appointment with a surgeon this AM. Basically what the surgeon said is that the operation itself has a low mortality rate, but with some of her heqalth conditions, it puts her more at risk. She is overweight, and has high blood pressure and diabetis, plus she is not a young lady. The doctors drew blood and ran some other tests to make an assessment of just how much of a risk it will be. When they present the findings to her next week (they have another appointment), she will decide what to do. In short, it's ultimately her decision, and we have to support her on whatever she decides.

One of the things about life is facing the mortality of your parents and, whenever it happens and whatever age you are, you are never prepared for it. I dealt with the death of my father in 1993, and I was totally unprepared. Granted it was a different set of circumstances. He died of a heart attack, so he went suddenly and painlessly, nonetheless, it was a shock.

Judy and I are praying right now that the results present a low enough risk for her to have the surgery, and, if the surgery will make a difference in prolonging her life.

I want to thank you all for your well wishes and your support. All of you are great people, and you all should know that your kind words DO make a difference. This was long overdue.
