After restaurants in NYC reopen, Goddess Shelly and I will have a meal at the Brooklyn Diner, ending with a huge slice of their fabulous Allen Grubman's Chocolate Blackout Cake (triple-layered valrhona chocolate cake & chocolate ganache frosting).
I know that diner! On 57th right? I used to live not too far from there, in Hells Kitchen (or Hell's Breakfast Nook, as I now call it, lol). I used to work near there as well, opposite Columbus Circle. My buddy was a waiter there for years, and I'd go in and get the VIP treatment, heheh.....
😀 I should have ordered the cake!
What's a cheeseburger deluxe go for these days, Mils? I'm living in Long Island City now, and a cheeseburger deluxe with a coke at the Greek diners near me can run 15 frickin' bucks!!!! Not including the tip! What the.....?!
Doesn't matter, though: I'm DEFINITELY hitting a diner when this shit is over, I second that emotion. Assuming I don't croak, first!
There's a waitress at a local bar/restaurant I go to regularly. I go (went) once a week for their trivia night and she would usually come over and chat with me, even if she wasn't my server. She's nice, pretty and she laughs at my stupid jokes. I have no idea if she's even remotely interested in me. Apparently when women are, I'm completely oblivious to it. I often don't realize they are because I have a negative perception of myself. Either way, when this is all over, the first thing I'm doing (if the restaurant is still open and she's still working there) is asking her out.
I know the feeling, I NEVER know when a woman is interested in me, I need to be told. Often I find out years later and kick myself. Same thing: negative perception of yourself cripples.
I think that's great you're resolved to do that, my brother! I remember one time I was walking out of work and as I passed cubicle after cubicle, I said, I'm going to randomly stop at one and ask a girl out. I stopped, turned to my left, and said to someone I hardly knew: "I feel like going to the movies, you wanna go?" She looked up at me, googly eyed, grabbed her coat and left with me right there and then. It's a sweet memory.
🙂
Good luck!
