Hey guys, here's the skinny on my kitties:
The first few pictures are of Chelsea. She's a Calico with white paws, which my wife affectionately refers to as "mittens" because it lookes like she's wearing mittens. My wife has had Chelsea since high school, believe it or not. She's pushing 17-18 years old and still as spunky as ever!! She definitely does not act her age. We got Chelsea from back home in PA when Heather's (my wife) mom came out to visit. She brought Chelsea with her to get her out of the environment she was in (too many other animals in the house). At the time we had only lost our first cat, Loki, to kidney failure, so I was really opposed to the idea as I was still in mourning. Chelsea turned out to be such a blessing!! She loves getting in bed with me when I'm sleeping during the day and laying on my lap when hockey is on!
And then there's Kismet, our 2 year old Siamese/Persian mix. I had taken the day off to help a friend in my coven move. In between trips from the new place back to the old place, a friend of mine and I heard this little meowing and we followed the sound until we found who would later be called Kismet, in the dirt, under a bush; dirt in her mouth, eyes closed, umbilical chord still attached, no mamma cat around, nobody claiming her. I scooped her up, called my wife and told her to find me the closest animal hospital that was open (we were moving on a Sunday). Turns out one was open only a block away, so we took her there and they started newborn care for her. At the time, they estimated her to only be about 3-4 days old. My friend that found her with me helped raise her and every week we took turns having her at each other's house, bottle feeding, etc. The vet was worried about Kismet not getting the nutrients she needed from her mother but she did just fine, as you can see from the photos. The first one is her at about 5-6 weeks old I believe and the second is her a few weeks ago. She's grown up well, I must say and good goddess if she doesn't think she's a dog!!! She fetches!! This cat literally fetches!!!!!! She's a terror but she's our baby. Her full name is Kismet Ayashe (Ayashe is Native American for "little one") Sorry this was so long but I thought the story was worth telling. Keep safe all!!
