Poutine - 👎 "poo-TEEN". A French-Canadian dish consisting of french fries, gravy and mozzarella cheese chunks.

To all my American friends, would you or would you not try this dish, if only once to see if you like it?

I would eat each of those things by themselves, so why not, I'll give it a whirl.

I usually have a pretty strong stomach, but that shit looks like vomit.

That looks like "Carmel danssen" sounds.

Probably not. I can't get over the term "cheese curds". I'll stick with good old American chili-cheese fries. Worse that will do is give me a temporary case of heartburn.

It doesn't seem that weird. Then again, I've eaten grasshoppers.

Despite it's vile appearance, I'm open minded enough to have had it a couple times. Honestly, it's not that bad. I love all the ingredients, despite how bad it looks combined. I've had good and bad poutine, so it just depends on who's makin' it and what's goin' into it.

not for me... but I won't judge you for your desire for poutine!!!!!!!!!!

I second this opinion. I've had poutine that looks and tastes like it was fished out of English Bay :xlime: and I've eaten poutine that could be considered Food of the Gods. :happyfloa

Some of the differences between good & bad poutine:

1) The gravy must be freshly made, hot and completely smooth - no lumps!

2) Cheese curds are the only cheese that should be in a poutine. Anyone who uses grated mozzarella or any other substitute should be shot. :evilha:

3) Order of ingredients - hot fries, cheese curds then the gravy. The gravy melts the cheese and...nom nom nom! :happyfloa

Poutine is BEAUTIFUL. It used to be my most favourite thing when I was a teenager (back when I was a Canadian), but sadly I've never managed to find or invent a satisfactory vegetarian version.

The best poutine can be found in east Montreal. If you want a nice bagel, west.

Ahem. I notice that most of the folk slagging la poutine come from the country that gifted the world with McDonalds. Glass houses, glass houses.

I could never bring myself to eat anything that close in pronunciation to "Poontang." :xlime:

I can see I'm not the only one that made the "poontang" connection. 😀
