Bummer, as this is a really good question and one I had hoped might have some feedback as well. We used to use visa/amex/mc pre-paid cards for online gaming purchases. It was bad enough having a "use fee" deducted on them but then we had an incident where the charge went through on the card but the site wouldn't acknowledge the purchase so I'm very leery of pre-paid cards.

What is the best that will work on buying clips and such?

I have used pre-paid Visa and M/C Gift Cards successfully for C4S purchases on several occasions.

I have never had a problem with the pre-paid card itself. When I had internet problems I have been able to get customer support thru email to supply new download links even when I used a fake name, and address for the purchase. So the Visa and M/C gift cards are great as long as you are OK with the small fee to purchase them.

However, they do not work on all of the producers direct sites.
You would need to check with each producer you are interested in buying from to see if they will accept a pre-paid CC.
