Okay this is an update really. I spoke about one of my friends of four years in the Tickling Ethics thread. There I said that I was probably going to plan to find out about whether she was ticklish or not...and that I would probably test to see how ticklish she is. I had a plan. OMG. And I was working that plan too. All day today. I didn't get to tickle though. But here is how it turned out. I think I am on my way.
So there is this event in the community that she goes to every week. I go occassionally. We were talking Friday night...I asked her if she was going. She said yes. So I told her that I might go and I could drive her. She's my neighbor. Anyway...this morning she left before I called her (took the bus; she doesn't drive)...but she told me to meet her there. Excellent. We hung out for a while. But then, she was hungry, so I took her to lunch. Excellent.
Well. On Friday, she told me that she was going to leave the event early so that she could go get her fingernails done. So, I had also volunteered to just take her...since I would already be with her. So at lunch, I reminded her. I told her the price would be that she had to tell me everything about women getting their nails done...because I didn't know anything. She laughed and said that ladies have a code to never ever tell men their secrets. But she agreed to go...and on the way I asked her questions about what and why and when and how she chooses colors and so forth. She was smiling and telling me. And then she was saying that she couldn't even believe she was telling me. No worries. So after a while, I made my move in rhetoric. "So do you do the mani-pedi thing?" She laughed and said "Sometimes, I do. But mostly I do my own pedi. I can't stand people touching my feet....I'M SO TICKLISH" (emphasis mine). Bingo.
"oh", I exclaim, seeing an opening..."So do you not like to be tickled, does it bother you?" She didn't go for that bait. She smiled and said, "Well I don't know...I just have to have my pedicure a certain way. I'm in heels all the time, I walk a lot, I need people to get down in there and work the callouses and rough edges out." Sigh. Okay...that didn't go like I expected. But no worries..it was just part of a conversation on the way to the nail shop. We talked about other things.
Shortly before we got there though, I slipped back to tickling. "Are you ticklish other places or just your feet?" She said she didn't really know. Then she asked if I was ticklish. So I said that I used to say no because I wasn't ticklish. But now that I am older, I did discover that I had a ticklish spot. "How did you find out?" So I told her. I had been playing with a friend and tickled her. And she wanted to get me back. And way back in my younger days...when I had abs of steele...I wasn't ticklish. But now that I am older and have a belly...this woman discovered that I was ticklish on my stomach. So now I know. My friend liked the story. And we kind of laughed together for a few seconds.
