Pretty cool-#1 song the day you were born???

For my birthday, January 23, 1970, the number one song was "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head", by BJ Thomas. I already knew that from my book of number one hits, but decided to click it anyway to double check. Weird thing is that while I enjoy many different kinds of music, I HATE that song! LOL!

Mitch

P'S "Raindrops" was the U.S number one song on that day. In the UK, it was "Two Little Boys" by Rolf Harris. I've not heard of either that song, or the artist.

"The Lion Sleeps Tonight" by The Tokens (USA)
To this day, I still cringe when I hear that silly falsetto.

"Moon River" by Danny Williams (UK)
I've never heard this version but I like the song. Makes me wish I had been born in England.

Owimoweh....

Mine for 1983 was "Every Breath You Take" by the Police

June 11, 1957
Pat Boone
"Love Letters In the Sand"

Never heard it, or at least I can't place it by the title. Can't say I've ever been a fan of the Boone-doggle.

Island Girl by Elton John. I like Elton John's music, so Im cool with that song.

08/17/64

'Everybody Love's Somebody' by Dean Martin

The #1 just before it was 'A Hard Day's Night' by The Beatles. I actually like the Dean Martin song. It was a comeback hit of sorts for him. But I would've preferred the Beatles tune on my birthday.

United Kingdom

Lional Ritchie - Hello

United States

Van Halen - Jump

Jump is a pretty cool song - but have you seen the video for the lionel riitchie song. The one with the blind girl and the clay head! Terrible!! British people don't know the meaning of good music. Before a few weeks ago the singles chart was based on top selling single CDs bought in record shops, and everyone known that only 10 yr old girls buy singles anyway, so no1 is usually some shitty boyband. But now that downloadabe music is included, things shold get more interesting, as everybody knows that twenty-something males download lots of really cool songs!

UK - Reach Out and I'll be There by The Four Tops

US - 96 Tears by ? and the Mysterians

Never heard of the US one

The chart doesn't go back far enough for me. I guess I'm a dinosaur at 55. 🙁

Aaaaaaw Milagros - I commerate this UK hit by Clive Dunn and a bunch of school kids to you

*sings

Grandad, Grandad, we love you, that's what we all think of you :twohugs:

96 Tears was performed by the Stranglers...originally title 69 Tears, changed for obvious reasons.

Actually, Dajerx, "96 Tears" was written and recorded by Question Mark & The Mysterians, a Mexican-American band from Saginaw, Michigan. The leader of the group was Rudy Martinez, better known as Question Mark. The band broke up due to his massive ego. He also claimed to have been from outer space. The song is a garage rock classic and was released in 1966. And you're right... the song was originally titled "69 Tears."

March 9, 1982, Centerfold - J. Geils Band

Never heard of it

My blood runs cold, my angel is the centerfold.... such a good song... However, for July 3, 1979.... The song for the U.S. was "Ring My Bell" by Anita Ward. Disco... ugh...

Now that I read your post, I remember all of that info from a one hit wonder show. I dont know where the hell I got the Stranglers info from.

Thanks!!

For my birthdate (August 25th, 1973) I got...

UK: Young Love - Donny Osmond

If only my mother could have held on a few more weeks..... 🙄

Hmmm....apparently if you enter the date of your 18th birthday, it will tell you your life's theme song!
