crazy night full of ko`s and subs including a fucking GOGOPLATA!
a lil re-cap
Joachim Hansen over Jason Ireland via Armbar rd 3
Frank Trigg over Kazuo Misaki via UD:
Trigg pretty much had his way with the MW GP winner and probably should`ve finished this fight a few times
James Lee over Travis Wiuff via Guillotine rd 1:
taking the fight on short notice, Lee was able to drop Wiuff with a nasty left (i believe) and then again with a knee before locking up the Guillotine in 39 seconds
Sergei Kharitonov over Michael Russow via Armbar rd 1:
Sergei really needed this win.it wasn`t a dominating performance...more the lack of experience on Russows part.
Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira via ko rd 1:
in what was one of the biggest upsets ever(on a couple of levels) Sok ko`d lil Nog in 23 seconds.
in what was one of the biggest upsets ever(on a couple of levels) Sok ko`d lil Nog in 23 seconds.
had to type it twice cause it`s that amazing.
Hayato Sakurai over Mac Danzig via ko rd 2:
Danzig showed his toughness but could not overcome the skill, power and quickness of "Mach" Sakurai and was ko`d in the 2nd rd of a good fight
Mauricio Rua over Alistair Overeem via KO rd 1:
"Shogun" was working his G'n'P and with Overeem on his back stood up and dove in with a right hand that landed right on the button.pretty good fight.
Nick Diaz over Takanori Gomi via Gogo-fucking-plata rd 2:
first half of round one saw Diaz nearly get finished and cut pretty good...second half saw Gomi looking gassed or overconfident(maybe both) thowing wild haymakers while Diaz landed quite a few shots. rd 2 had a gassed Gomi lazily take down Diaz and basically fall into a GOGOPLATA
Dan Henderson over Wanderlei Silva via KO rd 3:
*sigh*
Wandy did not look like himself at all. round 1 was close as they both landed some shots with Hendo taking prolly taking the round. In round 2 Hendo worked some nice G'n'P and take the round. In round 3....in the middle of the ring....they traded some bombs with HENDO KOing WANDY with a brutal left to become the first MMA fight to hold 2 belts in different weight classes at the same time.
final thoughts.....
it was a very entertaining PPV.Trigg added himself to the list of fighters to be considered for the WW(middleweight in the ufc) title.Diaz should get a title shot against Gomi in Japan.Gomi looked like he punched himself out and/or took this fight lightly which i suppose he could have since his title was not on the line. The match up of Lil Nog and Wandy is kind of pointless now since it should`ve happened already for the title.Lil Nogs loss is one of the biggest upsets ever and he had never been finished let alone KO`d before in Pride.Wandy (granted he is still in Pride) will most likely get a can in his next fight to build his confidence back up.Hendo should be real busy defending both his belts but Pride seems to involve their champions in alot of non-title fights.and finally.......Shogun can now have his much deserved title shot now that Wandy isn`t holding the belt and go on a Fedor-like run.

oh yeah....Jerry Millen (pride equivalent of Dana White) should never ever be allowed near another mic...he is just awful to listen to
