lol... im not too sympathetic. im just sayin let them hav their thread.
look at this way. the Mets came into the league in 1962. they have won 2 WS title in that time while appearing in 4 (1969, 1973, 1986,2000). in that time, the Dodgers have won 4 while appearing in 8. both have a .500 winning percentage but LA's record is much better. the Mets havent won for 20 years while the Dodgers havent won for 18. the only thing that i do have sympathy for is the fact that they havent been in it since the last time they won,1988.

I understand, I don't see it as anti. It is perfectly possible to celebrate your team's winning without bashing the other team.

With the notable exception of the hated jints, I try to do just that, celebrating the Dodgers' victory when they win without bashing the other team. (I do have unflattering nicknames for the other NL West teams, but no serious animosity towards them. The only team that I hate is currently playing in San Francisco.)

Thank you, TF4F. It was a fine season, with 88 regular season wins--only one team in the NL did better than that.

The post-season left something to be desired, so I have to say:

We have been using that saying in the years after the Dodgers had left for the Mets. in this way, we have kept a small part of the "Brooklyn Bums"(thats a term of endearment lol) alive in NY. For the Mets, NEXT YEAR IS NOW!!!

In fact, the Mets farm team, the Brooklyn Cyclones, keep quite a lot of the tradition of Dem Bums alive. There is a small museum at their ballpark (Keyspan Park) called the Brooklyn Baseball Gallery with quite a lot of memorabilia from the Dodgers there. There is a larger-than-life-sized statue of Pee Wee Reese and Jackie Robinson in front of Keyspan Park. Their two mascots are named Pee Wee and Sandy. I appreciate all that, and go to 5 or 6 games a year there. 😀

Shea II is going to have the look and the feel of Ebbets Feild. The Mets are proud of the history of the Dodgers and Giants. as you probably know, the Mets home cap is a NY Giant logo on a Dodger Blue hat. When Shea was opened, it was christened with water from the Gowanus canal and the Harlem River. the former body of water runs where Ebbets Feild once stood while the latter near the Polo Grounds.

Orange from the Giants, Blue from the Dodgers...
The Mets brought the National league back to NY.
