For any producers who shoot in hotel rooms, how easy is that, have you guys had any trouble, etc.?
What should those folks here who wish to start their own clip stores, or just make a few clips, should the expect, do...ect.?
This has never been asked before, so I was curious.
I as also curious about producers who get "studio space."
Where do you find that?
Do you get turned away when you say you want to shoot tickle videos!? Do they not even ask....have you had any issue with it...
Hey Mabus;
I'm own Toefu Entertainment which is a very small tickling video production company. I've used hotel rooms before and here are my pros/cons:
PROS:
you can always ask to view a room before you rent it... as long as you ask nicely and the desk help is not really busy at the time, they will be more than happy to let you view a room. You don't have to tell them you are going to "make a tickling video"... Just say something like.. "you've never stayed at this hotel before, and you are in the area from time to time for business, and are looking at similar hotels to find the best deal for you money", and they will be more than happy to let you see a room.
Renting a room is also very nice if your own living space is occupied by others (children, spouse, roommate).
Lastly; as long as you are shooting your video before 9pm, someone laughing hard for about 5 - 10 min, mostly likely won't alarm anyone... and even if it does,,, you wouldn't be violating any huge crimes... the worst case scenario is the front desk would call the room first to respond to a complaint ,,, you answer and say sorry, just having some fun,,, and you move on.... as long as its before 9pm, you will be fine.
CONS:
cost,,, as a producer, you are always trying to find ways to control cost... Using a hotel can be expensive given that you may be shooting for only about 4 hours at a time and given that you will have time limitations when shooting at a hotel... (typically 8 am - 9pm)... you are paying for a full one day overnite... you can't just pay by the hour. So, there is some waste there.
time/inconvenience: you have to pack all your stuff up (ropes, bondage, camera, etc) get there early, set up.
My best advice is to either, find a friend you can trust and use their home and pay them a small reasonable amount...
if not, soon you will have your own space, and you will be able to use that... Don't over worry about complaints,,, I remember ordering a videos a long time ago from "magic touch" tickling years ago,, and he had an inteview with one of his return models and they talked about how during the previous shoot, the police were called by a neighbor.. and the producer opened the door ... was questioned about the screaming,,, JUST BE HONEST.. there is no crime here... he told them he was doing a tickling video and the model was fine and it was consentual... of course the police wanted to talk to the girl,,, she was cool and told the police she was fine and modeling.. the cops were cool... just said, ok... LOL! they all laughed it off... and appreciated the neighbors making sure every one was ok.
good luck to you and your pursuit~!
