Proposal to make an entirely new section for classic video clips

I wanted to propose an idea for the board.

My idea is to make a new sub forum for video clips, specifically for "classic", oldie but goodie, video clips.

These are often looked for in the "Requests" sub forum, and seemingly not with much success.

I know for myself, I would love to have a sub forum specifically for people to post video captures of old videos they have, which might not be in existence anywhere else on the web.

I think this might really reduce the number of posts in the Requests forum. Then people would know ahead of time where to look for their request. It seems like a lot of requests are for older videos that people used to own and want to relive the memories of watching again.

I know there is an issue of copyright for some old videos, so the sub forum should have a sticky topic listing the tickling video production companies from which video clips could not be made.

What do you guys and gals think?

Its a novel idea in theory, but what precisely constitutes a classic would have to be very clearly and rigidly defined. That can get into a huge debate right off the bat. Like anything, it would require the support of the community to really take off.

Suggestions

How about videos that can no longer be purchased because they are no longer sold? And/or the company is no longer in business?

Darth Sidious, I want to be very careful not to worry any producers who are currently churning out videos, that their videos would end up in the "classic" video section. I understand your concern. I want the current video producers to thrive, and keep getting exposure, and keep posting their clips in the new video clips section.

I don't want this idea, which I hope is a good one, to get too bogged down in a semantic definition of what is a "classic" tickling video. It's kind of like that famous quote about pornography. I can't define it, but I know it when I see it. I have enough faith in the members of this forum to know what is an "oldie but a goodie" versus what is a current video available for purchase. Just as there are radio stations that play "classic rock", and not everyone would agree what classic rock is, but you know it when you hear it. Some people will disagree that this song, or that song, is not classic rock, and think it shouldn't be on that radio station, but on average, people know what they are going to get when they tune in to a classic rock station.

Here are some suggestions. I don't know if any of these companies already have contacted the TMF regarding not posting their clips due to copyright issues. If any of these producers' videos cannot be posted, then it's simply due to my lack of knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes legally here.

Again these are just suggestions to start discussion. Input is greatly appreciated.
