Punk and Morrison: The new Hart and Michaels?

Just curious if anyone else sees what I'm getting at. I believe there's a strong parallel here. Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels put on some epic matches back in the 1990s when they faced each other. Hart was the more straight-laced, technically gifted company babyface. Then you had Michaels... the high-flying, technically gifted, arrogant heel. Eventually, Michaels turned face and both were beloved by the fans. Hart turned heel later on.

Fast forward to 2009, and even before that, really. CM Punk and John Morrison put on fantastic matches whenever they square off in the ring. I'd compare Punk's personality and in-ring style more to Hart's, while Morrison gets the brash, daredevil-like HBK comparison. Now both are babyfaces, though Punk's recent behavior has it looking very likely that he'll be turning heel in short order (if it's not official already with the post-match GTS on Morrison this past week).

Curious to hear your take, wrestling fans. All thoughts appreciated.

I think I see some of what you're saying. I just don't know that they'll reach the level of the Hart/Michaels without the real-life hatred that they shared for one another.

I do see some similarities between Punk/Hart and Morrison/Michaels. I think that Morrison needs to get more mic time to truly blossom. I didn't get into Punk's first title reign, but his current one is different. I feel like his straight-edge attitude is coming into play more and that his role as a tweener is working at the moment. Smackdown is the best show in wrestling right now.

It might even be better since the Hart/Micheals matches first took place when HBK hadn't reached his prime yet while Bret had and later on when HBK was in his prime and Bret was past his.

I could not help but burst out laughing at Miz's latest go at Cena:
