It has been reported that Japanese pro wrestling legend Mitsuharu Misawa passed away Friday night during a tag team match. He was in a tag team match with Go Shiozaki against Bison Smith and Akitoshi Saito and apparently suffered a heart attack after being dropped with a suplex.
He would have been 47 on June 18.
Apparently it was just a standard suplex that Misawa was hit with, but he did not get up after the move. Immediately those in the ring tried to revive him with CPR while the incredibly respectful Japanese crowd went from silence to a “Misawa” chant. The entire roster then came to ringside while they were attending to him. He was rushed to the hospital but may have already been dead by the time he arrived there.
This does sadden me. He was my fave wrestler in the 90s and i begun to hate him when he left AJPW to form Noah since i saw it as disrespect to the memory of Giant Baba. But none the less he was the arguably the greatest wrestler in Japan and its a big void that may never be filled
