Kind of a spin off from the "Kobe re-signs" thread, do you think that in the tough West, the Lakers, formerly either a champion or championship contender year in year out, can win fifty games. Assume for the purposes of this that Karl Malone does NOT coem back to the Lakers as I woudl be shocked if her did. Any thoughts?
 
With Kobe back, yes. Remember, the Knicks annually won 50 plus games in the Riley years of the 90s with Patrick Ewing and little else. They probably wont win the West division, or get deep into the playoffs, but I think they can squeeze 50 wins with Kobe and some role players. You can do that in the NBA.
