Question for everyone - does a ler wearing a mask bother you in videos

Hey all!

Question for everyone, lees especially chime in. When you are looking at tickling and even other videos. Does the lers face matter to you? Whether it is hidden or not by either being out of frame or the ler wearing a mask. Does that give you a feeling of disconnect or creepiness? Does it intrigue you more as you don’t know who the mystery person is, or anything? Just getting a gauge on a few things in future productions.

If always had one rule that the lee’s face is not to be covered or hidden as facial reactions and smiles mean a lot to me when making videos. But the ler is the one I always questioned about.

Does the tickler wearing a mask take away from your viewing experience, or does it add to the fantasy?

Thanks!

Jay

Kind of, but if they make a point to try and stay out of the frame as best as possible it's ok. Seeing someone in a ski mask take up like half of the screen is kind of a dealbreaker.

Same, I understand why it's done, but I'm not a fan.
Plus, as I've said before, I love the chemistry in your videos, and a masked ler kills it. Unless both are masked, then it can work.

No, for the simple reason that ticklers with masks usually talk a lot less or not at all, and most lers talk WAYYYY too much. I like some chemistry and taunting, but not to the point where I'm forced to try and follow a conversation when I'm trying to concentrate on the lee's reactions. "Then turn the volume down." Except that I do want to hear the lee's reactions.

Don't really care for it, but I understand why they do it. But, like Comfort Eagle said, the ski masks pretty much spoil it.

Ticklee here. I would agree that as long as it’s not focused on the entire time, it isn’t a huge deal. It can get pretty annoying if they are adjusting it or playing with it a bunch. I will say that the knowing smirk on a ler’s face that says “I am DESTROYING this girl right now” is one of the hottest things to me.

Long story short: Seeing the ler’s face is a huge plus, but not necessary for me to enjoy the clip as a whole.

I've never liked masks in tickling. It feels less human.

I do really enjoy clips where the ler is off camera. It allows me to really focus on the sensation of the tickling taking place. It's even stronger when the lee's face is hidden as well.

I usually don't like when a tickler wears a mask, but I'll admit that my reasons come with a gender bias.

In the case of male ticklers, I find masks very creepy. Now, I'm not a fan of M/F in general. It does very little for me. But I feel masks only make things worse. If the tickling must be done by a man I prefer if he doesn't show his face at all. That's part of the reason why I usually let the models take care of most of the tickling during my shoots. And when I contribute to the tickling myself I keep my own face off-camera, including when I work with solo models.

If a tickler is female, then I don't find a mask nearly as creepy. In fact, it can add a touch of mystery, and I can see how it could be appropriate if a scene includes cosplay elements. That being said, I still prefer no mask. The tickler's facial expressions can add a lot to the mood of the scene. A mask takes away from it.

Of course, these are just my personal opinions. If other people like it when ticklers wear masks, that's just fine.

Mostly it just means that he thinks he is doing something inappropriate, which isn’t 🙂 if it’s about tickling.
I you are doing something, don’t be ashamed of it or don’t do it.

To be fair, it's entirely possible that a tickler wears a mask because he thinks/knows that a fair percentage of the viewers aren't too fond of seeing a producer appearing is his own videos. At least that's how I feel. But yeah, I can see how wearing a mask can give off the kind of vibe that you described. It's probably the main reason why I don't like it.

I dislike masks in general, but I feel that the worst offender is the surgical mask and sunglasses combo. It's just sooooo creepy.

Thank you all for the valuable input! While I am in the same camp as you, there are also instances where the tickler may have a day job that involves being in tv or in public view a lot of the time. It’s more for protecting the identity. I do feel that it can have some disconnect. Gone are the days of TIB and even FTKL and Bobby as they were wearing masks often.

Maybe a baseball hat and sunglasses won’t be as bad? Or clever camera angles that keep the tickler a mystery. Lots to think about.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing; the old "LOL" studio used to have everyone masked, and it was obvious that it was a bunch of regular people having fun.

You are so right. I totally forgot about that. I’ll need to dig a little deeper into this and see what works.

Well, at least this is an image with a story, a creepy one in this case, so this may be on the contrary appealing 🙂 If for example we have a tickling story, like with a clown tickler, then why not 🙂

But clowns don't typically wear surgical masks and sunglasses.

Only that combination gives you chills? What about if a tickling story involves such a tickler personality?

I guess the main reason why I'm so creeped out by that particular combination is that I associate it with some videos in which the ticklee gets tickled by not one, but by 4-5 creepy guys all tickling her at the same time, all wearing surgical masks and sunglasses. The ticklee is typically completely or partially naked, and she behaves in a way that indicates that this is being done against her will (it might not genuinely be the case, but that's still the scenario). I find this incredibly creepy and cringy, as well as more than a little rapey, to be perfectly honest. For some reason this kind of scenario is featured in several videos from Japan (I think), although I guess they might all be by the same producer for all I know, so it might be a special case, and not a trend over there.

Would I still dislike surgical masks and sunglasses without this association with a specific type of abusive-looking video? Very probably. I mean, I find masks in general to be creepy, so...

To answer your second question, well, I don't like stories in tickling videos to begin with, so masks still wouldn't do much for me. But I can only speak for myself. I fully realize many people do enjoy that sort of thing. I suppose a surgical mask would work well enough in the case of a medical scenario. At least it has a basis in reality that isn't isn't creepy in and of itself (as oppposed to a ski mask worn indoors, for instance). But seriously, who wears a surgical mask with *sunglasses*?

Yes and no. I don't really watch videos though of the clip previews I've seen masks tend to be really off putting. Especially if it's something like a balaclava or a luchadore mask though I do appreciate why they're there. That's not to say I'm entirely opposed. One of my story scenarios involved a masked tickler (Albeit of a specific kind) so I'm not entirely opposed, I think it really depends on the context and the actual mask in question.

I don't mind the ticklers wearing masks.
In fact I encourage some of these butt ugly mo fo's that don't wear masks to wear them.
If the tickler looks like they are pushing 300lbs and not even 6' tall I would even mind seeing some kind of a slimming body suit if there was such a thing.

I think one aspect of producers wearing masks might be kind of diminishing their own persona from scenario they're creating as well as possible for their audience to better self-insert as the tickler. Kinda like Japanese hentai often has extremely plain or even faceless male protagonists.
As for myself, it doesn't really make huge difference since when it comes to videos, since I focus solely on female ticklees. It varies of course, but usually the looks of tickler him/herself is quite irrelevant to me. As an exception mask can fit very well in some videos with storyline and set up scenario, such as kidnapping or other clearly non-consensual fantasy setting, but enjoying those things in the first place is a matter of personal taste.

Don't really care if the ler is wearing a mask or not. I generally prefer watching f/f when it comes to tickling because I'm always interested in revenge tickling and comparing which of the two women are more ticklish, who's the better tickler, and who got one of the other better. That's what made the Tasha vs Brooke videos fun to watch for me.

Thanks again for everyone who chimed in. Definitely a lot to think about on how this will pan out. But this has definitely helped a lot in the process. Much appreciated!

I like masks if it makes the ler look creepy, however if it's a well known character like Batman or Spiderman then it looks goofy and I don't care for it.

^^now there’s an interesting thought. Maybe a creepy mask might work. Hmm...
