Question for hard rock/heavy metal fans

I guess it depends on what you mean by "bad." I don't enjoy their music very much, but I've seen some youtube videos that broke down their songs and they were all apparently extremely talented, using really complicated time signatures in their music.

I think the 80s and early 90s Genesis was pretty good, even though that was their most pop-oriented era. 70s Genesis was a little too bizarre for my tastes, but Peter Gabriel made a lot of great music as a solo artist.

I say this as a Tool fan.

Genesis? Was that an 80's hair band?

I can't remember them sadly. Do you know some of their hit singles? If so, what are they?

Genesis was a band that released their first album in 1969, but they went on to gain fame in the 70s as a progressive rock band. Peter Gabriel was the first lead vocalist and left the band in the late 70s. He would later have a successful solo career with big pop hits like "Big Time" and "Sledgehammer".

Phil Collins took over as lead vocalist, and Genesis became more pop-oriented in the 80s. Their biggest hit was probably "Invisible Touch", which was off of the album of the same name, but they had several other hits like "Misunderstanding", "Turn It on Again", "No Reply at All", "That's All", "In Too Deep", "No Son of Mine", "Jesus He Knows Me", and "I Can't Dance".

Collins had a successful solo career as well, releasing multiple albums in between Genesis albums and would leave the band in the 90s.

I wouldn't say they're a bad band. Never was all that bothered with the stuff they did post-70's, but that's because I'm a big prog rock fan. My own favourite album of theirs still being "Wind and Wuthering", and my al time favourite Genesis track is from that album: "One for the vine", it's a bit obscure, but it's got great lyrics and some rather wild shifts in melody, quite memorable :)

Not a fan of the Peter Gabriel stuff, was very whimsical prog that isn't my thing. But the 80s early 90s stuff is pretty good. Jesus He Knows Me is an absolute banger.
