In MGS and SOL you finished the game and were usually awarded bonus items like stealth camo, the bandana or Raiden's wigs. To use them you reloaded the game you saved after the final scene when you completed it. By doing this you could start a new game using the bonus items and with a different difficulty level.
Snake Eater seems different though. When you re-load a save from a completed game you just start a new one automatically assigned to the same old difficulty level. If you do this you can use the bonus items you gained last time through. However, if you "start new game" and choose a higher difficulty level, the bonus items aren't there. What gives? Am I missing something, or did they just decide you could only use bonus items on difficulty levels you've already completed?
