In a neat twist on the usual "Market Christmas For All It's Worth" surge that's gripped the civilized world...

CHOM-FM, a classic rock station out of Montreal, has instituted a "No Stupid X-Mas Music Until Dec. 20th" promotion. If any of the dj's get overly merry and play any of those songs we are so sick of hearing 458 times a day, they'll give away cash and prizes to astute listeners.

Finally, something good out of Montreal...😀

Dave I take it you don't like Montreal? I drove big rig through there last December It is just like any big city with heavy traffic
It's nice to know at least one radio station is doing the right thing That's why I am thankful for cassete players That way I have control over the music

Sounds good to me! I don't mind playing a little music early for parties or while I bake, etc. But, what usually occurs is such overkill that I get sick of hearing them before Christmas even gets here.

I used to listen to CHOM-FM back in the day when the format was known as 'AOR' (album oriented radio)...the French station in Montreal was CKOI (say qwah), and they played the same format. Back in those days, I lived for a short time with a family over in Pointe Claire, near Valois on the West Island, not far from Dorval Airport. Some of the best times I ever had on this planet.
I'm very happy to see CHOM-FM is still around! 😀

No kidding, Knox, you lived in the West Island? I spent half my childhood in Dollard des Ormeaux! Yeah, for a while CHOM played crappy, new, whiny alt-rock, but then 2 years ago they wised up and switched back to the classic rock format. CKOI is still around too.

Morning Angel, didn't know you were a fellow listener. Terry, Ted and Thumbs have the best morning show going, and I think it was Ted's idea to not play x-mas music.
