I know it does no good to bitch about the weather, because none of us mortals can change it, and it is the Greater Being's will, but, is anyone in the Northeast and Mid Atlantic sick of this rain already? It seems all has done lately is rain! Last night, and today, in Lancaster, we keep having these heavy, flooding, tropical downpours where it rains like crazy for a half hour, stops, the sun comes out, and then more rain comes in torrents. There have already been road closings and water rescues not far from my apartment. There are more heavy showers expected for tonight. I mean, I know we need rain for plants, animals, and even humans to survive, but this is ridiculous! The only good news is that by Thursday, it is expected to dry out.
Anyhow, I just wanted to post about this. I am so sick of this rain. It is enough! Show me some sun already!

Mitch

Normally I'd agree with you Mitch but for some very odd reason I'm totally reveling in this rain. We're having brief bursts of sun over here in central Jersey and I'm kind of hoping they don't stick around.

Some parts of our state have had 10 inches in the last 5 days.....

Today was the first day of reprieve, but it is set to return tomorrow...

Trade me? It's been over 100+ here~and I LOVE the rain!

XOXO

Been raining for three days straight here in the Nation's Capital. I saw the sun come out earlier, and walked outside, but it was still pouring nonetheless. My dogs are hating life. It's just after 5 pm and almost dark outside.

*sigh* Wish you could send the rain over here, Mitch! It has been in the low 90's and is most likely going to get hotter. Let's hope yours stops soon an dwe get a good soaking over here in Southern California!

Ticklishgrl, and Steph, you can both have the rain! We've had too much of it already, and I just checked the radar online, more is on the way, from Harrisburg, how fun!
LK, we had brief sun bursts here too, today, but then the rain begins again.
Steph, 100 would sound good to me just about now, at least it's better than rain.

Water logged in PA, your friend to all,
Mitch

Mph~not when you're prone to heat strokes! It was 80 at my house last nite at 12:45! I wanted to scream! 😀
You come here, I'll go there, ok?
XOXO

We have a trapped front on top of us. There's a front in the midwest pushing east, and one over the Atlantic pushing west, and in the middle's this trapped front funnelling humid air and rain up from the Gulf. Been like this for a week now.

We had something like this last year. The rain was much worse...it was an eight day deluge...

I hate this shit.

My mother (who is in MD) called me around dinner time tonight to make sure I wasn't "in trouble." I guess since we hadn't spoken for a couple days, and it's been raining so hard both here and there, she thought perhaps I'd been washed away.

Knoxie, my rain hating brother! I love it.

Steph, I do understand what you're saying. I hate excessive heat too. I dont mind some rain, but this is too much.
From what I hear, 24 hrs more, then it dries out. Yay!

Mitch

No rest in sight out here honey, I wish I could die, I'm that close...

XOXO

We needed this rain. The water tables were way low. We were like 7 inches behind schedule. Yeah, it sucks to drive in it and it makes the days somewhat dreary, but I'm glad we got it, nonetheless. When one is dependant on well water, one tends to be more tolerant of rain. 😀

ahh there are missing children as a result of too much rain..why does it seem whenever there is a flood, children go missing?

Yesterday I had to drive my rig in all that rain I came back from visiting my mom who leaves near Lancaster,Pa I am in the Wilkes Barre Pa area now From what I am told interstae 81 is closed a bit north of us due to flooding The binghamton,NY area also got hit hard

lost power as I was starting to respond to this earlier....

We've had a good 7" of rain here since Friday. Fortunately, the flooding issues in our neighborhood have been very minor. BUT...

Zod....that's where my folks are. I talked with them earlier. Everything up there is closed and states of emergency in effect throughout the area. No travel is allowed other than emergency personelle and medical staff. Entire neighborhoods are under water. Add to that the fact that my grandfather is in the hospital and they can't get to him because parts of Rt. 17 are under water in the Steuben County area. So, even if Broome County wasn't shut down, they couldn't get there. We couldn't get to my folks, either, if anything happened. I didn't hear about 81 being closed, but wouldn't be surprised if there were areas that were. Be careful out there!

I'm glad this system is finally clearing out!!!

I hope your folks and grandfather make it through ok I am a bit east of Syracuse,NY now A little after 12 noon I81 was opened back up I drove past some badly flooded areas in Pa near the NY border

Then I was up in the Binghamton area The exit for the truck stops was closed because that area was flooded out I drove to a rest stop 30 or 40 miles north of Bingamton I called the Wal Mart DC I was supposed to deliver to today The guy I talked said the NY thruway toll road was shut down between exits 34a to 25a going east So I couldn't deliver the load today

As I got closer to Syracuse,I listened to 1620 am station They said I81 from exit 4 in Bingamton to the Pa border was closed and a 40 mile section of I81 was closed in Pa The roads had re-flooded

I have no idea of how long I will be up here

people who live in the locations of Fort Worth, Dallas, Arlinton, Burleson, and the like can all agree on one thing...SEND THE RAIN HERE!!! many of the lakes, rivers and ponds in the area have not been this low since the 40's...and now you can see the skeletons of old trees that have been underwater for decades. hell, some of the lakes are still down from last summer. on top of that, a large portion of Texas is under varying degrees of Drought levels and burn bans...very few places are allowing the use of fireworks this year. so, all of you that don't want the rain anymore...just click your heels and say "Go rain in Texas...go rain in Texas"

here comes that rainy day feeling again!

what to do with the kids in all this rain! and this humidity is for the birds :bat:

Sorry it's so bad for you all back east.Send some out here,we are 10 inches behind for the year. It's so dry i saw a catfish hitch-hiking yesterday.

in Massachusetts when we need it, it cant be found...When we dont need it, it's everywhere..I think as of this date we've had 22.5 inches of rain

For General Zod....

or anyone else travelling in NYS...

Notice all the current closures....most due to the flooding. Two truckers were killed in seperate accidents when part of I-88 colapsed. Every major highway in the state has some closures because of the flooding.

The neighborhood I grew up in is in danger of going under water because two flood walls have already been topped and a third is crumbling. Even if there were no more rain for a while, the wall may give before the water goes down enough. My folks went out exploring today (like idiots) and were turned back. They couldn't go very far in any direction without being cut off by flood waters. They're fortunate enough to live in a higher location. But, most of the city has at least some flooding. Quite a mess!
