Rambo IV

I'm not sure what to think or feel about this. I'm not a fan, but I liked some of the movies.

Ok, Sylvester Stallone is HOW OLD?????

I would think too old for Rambo movies! :rotate:

Kis took the words right out of my computer. He's got to be a little old for this. It'll be kind of like Clint Eastwood in the last couple of Dirty Harry movies, or William Shatner in Star Trek - Generations.

I'll go see it - right after I see the E.T sequel, the Mad Max 4 movie that Heath Leger was supposed to be in.... the Roger Rabbit prequel that takes place during WWII.... the next Indiana Jones movie..... Star Wars Episode 7.... that darn Marx Brothers film with the United Nations as the setting, directed by Billy Wilder..... Marilyn Monroe's movie "Something's Got To Give"...

To make it worse, the bad guy will be played by Stallone's greatest nemesis.

An enlarged prostate...

Yeah, it's tasteless.

But some of you are laughing right now.

Sly is in the best shape of his life right now. He is in better shape then any guy I have seen his age and a lot of younger guy's.

Yo, "Rambo IV" is gonna be a smash hit movie..........now can someone tell me what a dvd is?

Sylvester Balboa

Who or what is he fighting this time? Arthritis?

The first film was poignant, political and to the point. It drove home a hard lesson about how badly people who'd given their sanity, bodies and lives for their country had been treated. The second was garbage utterly and truly with a slight harking back to the aforesaid moral point, and the third was garbage with no saving graces other than it is hillarious when viewed from a modern perspective, as it reveals how fickle American political loyalty is, and what short memories the viewing public has.

As for Sylvester Stallone, I respect the man a great deal. He has, with the best will in the world, limited acting talent and not a great repertoire of facial expressions (although some of that can be attributed to the clumsy smegger of a doctor who helped deliver him at birth). But he's made a stupendous career through sheer bloody-mindedness, persistance and effort. He's also cursed with a mother who looks like one more facelift would give her a beard or get her arrested for child molestation in mistaken identity for Michael Jackson. All he's achieved has come through amazing effort, rather than being born with a talent like Alec Guiness or a body like Charles Atlas. But I think he'll have to perform a miracle to change Rambo 4 being a turkey of the most galactic proportions. I hope he does it.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that he was responsible for the storylines. Even if he wrote Rambo III he was by that time "influenced" by his own stereotype. I place the blame for most of that squarely on the shoulders of the Hollywood Entity.

He certainly is intelligent. The Rocky series was dead on its arse after III, but he timed Rocky IV to coincide perfectly with the Russians boycotting the LA Olympics in 84. Filming was going then and it came out the year after.

Who wouldn't have a bought a ticket to see a hugely outmatched American kicking the tits of a bad, yank-slaughtering russian in Red Square on Christmas Day? Gucking Fenius!!!

He is older, but he is still in really good shape. If you go to his site there is a video of him lifting weights and working out. He is actually much bigger now than he ever was in his older movies.

Still see the cable that ties his bicep to his upper body after he tore it off training with franco for Rocky 2. If you look at whenever he raises his arm, you will see the cable running from his right elbow to his under arm area.

He has a lot more muscle mass. And He can still run rings around any young guy. And age fits into the story they are planning. He has a family and has domesticated. But warriors will always be warriors.

And stupid is as stupid does! I don't care how good he looks, he's over 50 years old. Who do you think is going to go see his movies? Certainly not the kids who spend the most money! He needs to produce or direct, not be the lead actor in anything! I haven't recovered from his role in "the contender" reality tv series.

He had a great career, it's time to either evolve or retire. They lost me after Rocky II.

Rocky V was frigging awful! The first four all vary in my favourites list, according to whim, but 5 was a pile of decrepit shite with a cherry on top.

My favorite part of Rocky V was the promoter who was imitating Don King. He was frickin' hilarious and was the only saving grace in that waste of a movie.

"Touch me and I'll sue."
