ok...so i find that the more expensive those navigation talkie thingies..the more elaborate the grammer...our old gms or gmc or whatever you call it..if you left the right route the voice would say off route...which was damn frustrating as hell...this new one hubby bought..much more expensive..and the vocabulary reflects this..if you go off route the female voice, a more cultured voice than the old thingie...she says..."recalculating" and she actually sounds annoyed..gesh...so every damn time we stopped for some reason or other there she went again...sighs..the old days of trying to fold a map while driving, and cussing out the said map are long gone it seems..if you guys can even remember it..grr lol

Most of us still use the map due to electronic navigation aids being beyond our budget.

Electronic talking navigator = $200 from Tomtom
Map = $4.50 from Rand McNally

GPSes are useful, at least it keeps your hands on the wheel and the person sitting next to you is'nt frantically telling you you missed the turn or they're still trying to figure out where you are XP printing out the directions from Google Maps seems to be the next best thing though

I always liked to follow the signs when on the highway, then figure out how to find things in town previous to going there 🙂

Agreed with Jimmy - planning a trip with a map (BEFORE you go, usually) is half the fun. 😛 (And it's much cheaper anyway)

HI Welcome back i dive the wife navigates because i'am lost in my own road and the device talks, yes with a female voice on one trip i found the heavy traffic a bit frustrating, and yelled will you two be quiet i can,t think what i'am doing.

and uh well hubby does plan ahead..with the navigator thingie...he will work on it for days beforehand..but still manages to go off route once in a blue moon...as in all the time..grrr

Umm....can't you just look at a map before you leave? Get the directions and go by that?
