Last Saturday I went to see 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' with some friends, it was my first time seeing it in theaters. Yes I was a Virgin. Anyway as sexy as the movie was, made more so by the live cast members acting out the scenes in front of the screen, I wondered, with all the transvestitism, pan sexuality, and stocking fetishism why was there no tickling in the film? I mean imagine how sexy it would have been to hear Susan Surandon singing 't-t-t-tickle me' or some thing like that. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Because tickling is not a common fetish, nor is it commonly sexualized. Even among sexual experimentation and deviance, which RHPS kind of showcases, tickling is too obscure.

1) I can't believe this is still going on. I only saw it once- in Belmar, New Jersey, in the early 80s, with all the rice thrown and the costumes and the audience participation. For me, once was clearly enough.

2) I distinctly remember Susan Sarandon telling Dinah Shore on her daytime talk show that she wasn't ticklish. Over 30 years ago. So...

Umm...cause the movie is based first off of science fiction and second off of sexualization. Despite the look of the movie the fetish type stuff is not really the main feature (mostly that stuff was a representation of the director's homosexuality.)

Besides change RHPS!!!! OMG no lol.

I am surprised though that you didn't see any live tickling, that normally does occur at pretty much all the shows I've been too. 🙂

Really? Where do you go to watch it? I've seen it in Montreal and Toronto, never seen any tickling in the performance...

I've seen it a couple of times. On TV. Not big on the whole audience participation thing. But I do recall a brief scene where one one woman was polishing another's toenails. No tickling , it seemed to be intended to imply a sort of wickedly decadent pervy-ness more than anything.

I would have loved to have seen Susan Sarandon tickled in that movie too. Even in the movie Bull Durham with Kevin Costner I wanted to see her tickled on her nyloned feet.
I wonder if she is ticklish. Does anyone know for sure on if she is?

I agree all the obnoxious audience participation, and the fact that my attention was pulled between both the film and the cast was very annoying. Either just show the film straight or put on a play, not both. Other than maybe getting acquainted with the female cast members I have no interest in going back to see that particular production.

Awwwwwwwwww I'm sad you guys had bad RHPS experiences! I've gone to the one in Chelsea, NYC about five or six times and I love it! But then again, my friends and I all dress up like *****s, know the movie by heart, and know all the callbacks.

Buttttt yeah I highly doubt tickling is mainstream enough to make it onto a movie, especially fet-wise. Lol except for like Gitchie...

I actually thought there was some brief tickling during the "Touch me" song between two of the girls.

Someone missed that.
Well, none of us are ever going to meet Susan Sarandon anyway, but we can still fantasize about it, eh?
