After a dozen years of trying to keep my wifes feet as soft as possible through home done and salon pedicures, we have come up with a recipe for foot care that works great for us( judging from some of the comments aboout her soft soles at the NEST) and I thought I'd share it for anyone who might find it useful. Please share what recipes work for you, after all, I gotta keep it fresh!
Last summer, Toz remembered something she had read about a lemon sugar treatment for the feet. She was hazy on the details, so we experimented and this is what we came up with. It can be messy but so we usually throw down a couple of beach towels first.
After a warm soapy foot bath over a basin, I cover a paper plate with a large grain sugar. Turbinado sugar works best so far, but I'm still experimenting. Then I cut a large ripe lemon across the middle and score the flesh(of the lemon!) lightly with a knife. Stamp the now open side of the fruit into the sugar and use the lemon as a loofah to scrub the sugar lemon juice mixture all over the foot, especially any trouble spots, of course. Redip as necessary, one lemon half per foot with as many surprise tickles as you can get away with. As each foot gets done place it in a plastic bag and cover with a sock. We usually let it work for about ten minutes followed by a warm rinse and a vanilla lotion massage.
The combination of the abrasive sugar and the citric acid makes Toz' feet feel like flower petals, she says it feels like all her nerve endings have come to the surface and I think it removes a surface layer of skin.
As NEST '06 approached we were brainstorming about other ways to soften her feet and Toz suggested one of those parrafin dip machines. In a word, DEVASTATING! That thing is a delight and more effective than anything I have ever seen. I highly recommend it. In fact, that was when I added socks to the lemon sugar recipe.
We alternate these treatments every couple of weeks and I can't wait to see how soft those soles are by the next NEST.
Tickle on,
