I grew up feeling that perhaps I had some musical talent until the sixth grade proved I didn't have bubkus. Bubkus was all I KNEW of music until I started watching VH1, and learned that there was a lot out there that I was not appreciating. Thankfully my tastes have improved substantially and I can now at least talk about music without sounding like a COMPLETE retard. And now that I've started this recommendation thread business, there is now a music thread where people can actually ACTIVELY mention music worth listening to. And since there are more than a few musicians here, I figure the lists should be juicy.

So if YOU have any ALBUMS of ANY KIND that are TRULY DYNAMITE, recommend them here for the benefit of the uncultured masses to which I once belonged!

Here's My list:

The Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd
OK Computer - Radiohead
Ten - Pearl Jam
Siamese Dream - The Smashing Pumpkins
Kid A - Radiohead
Nirvana Unplugged - Nirvana
vs - Pearl Jam
Bringing Down the Horse - The Wallflowers
Back in Black - AC/DC
Antichrist Superstar - Marilyn Manson
Kind of Blue - Miles Davis
Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai (sdtk) - RZA
Doggystyle - Snoop Doggy Dogg
The Wind - Warren Zevon
Are You Experienced? - Jimi Hendrix
Fever - Kylie Minogue
Wisconsin Death Trip - Static-X
The Marshall Mathers LP - Eminem
Dig Your Own Hole - The Chemical Brothers
G-Sides - Gorillaz

So far, that's mine...what's yours?

Fever - Kylie Minouge

All of Shinwha's albums (there are numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and so on)

Gauze - Dir En Grey

Greatest Hits - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Peace - BOA

Gravitation OST

Hmmmmm, this sounds like another variation of a couple of recent posts.
But anyway, I'll list some cds I picked up in the last year that I highly recommend.

Funkadelic - "Maggot Brain"
Sandy Denny - first solo album
Fairport Convention - "What We Did On Our Holidays"
Sun Ra - "Space Lullabys"
Jimmy Smith -"The Cat"
Thelonius Monk -"Alone in San Francisco"
Sun Records - "The Ultimate Blues Collection"
Johnny Cash - "Unearthed"

Despite the diverse and varied musician I am studying to be... I actually have very picky (though still very different) tastes in what music I listen to. Here they are.

Return to Forever - Where have I known you before?
The Dave Brubeck Quartet - Time Out / Jazz Impressions of Japan
Tool - Ænima / Lateralus
A Perfect Circle - Mer De Noms / Thirteenth Step
The Cat Empire - The Rising Sun
Sevendust - Home
Opeth - Damnation

There you go, Fusion, Jazz, Alternative Metal, Alternative Rock, Latinish, Hard Core and Hard Core gone soft 😀

Just a tad confused Amnesiac...........

.......Eminem, Nirvana, Kylie Minouge, AC/DC ?.....I rather think the "uncultured masses" are pretty well up to speed on this type of foul mouthed guitar twanging tosh dont you? (kylie is ok with the sound turned off i suppose)

You sound like an old muso, Indian. Go back and listen to Gordon Giltrap, old boy!

Here are my personal favourites so far:

Manic Street Preachers - The Holy Bible, Everything Must Go
Oasis - Definitely Maybe, (What's The Story) Morning Glory

The White Stripes - Elephant
The Prodigy - Fat of the Land

The Clash - The Story of... Vol.1 (compilation)
Outkast - Stankonia (their latest one I'll buy soon)
Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced, Electric Ladyland
Jeff Buckley - Grace
Terry Callier - TimePeace

I've got a Beatles compilation on Vinyl, but I don't have a deck. That's my lot for now...
