One of the biggest chokes in baseball history! i love it! they didnt deserve it. im glad Tampa made it in. i hate baseball, but this was a dramatic finish. i feel good today! :excited:

im glad you're happy .... not like its a shocker, our team had a horrible month 7-20 record for September, could have told you that was going to happen 1/2 way through the month.

Well why didnt you then? i could have made some serious money betting against them!

Carl Crawford 142 million dollar bust... Bobbled everything that was hit to him and lost at the plate.

It may be a wildcard spot, but at least the Cardinals get another shot at World Series title #11...and how may do Cubs fan have?

Still haven't gotten over Steve Bartman...oh by the way, you're watching it on TV again this year.

The Sox have company in my Atlanta Braves. Sigh! I dont think I recall seeing two such chokes in the same season.

I havent seen the comments on the Sox fan blogs, but I belong to the Braves fan blogs, and the fans and writers are crucifying the Braves for The Choke. Right now it isnt pretty to be a Sox or Braves fan.

"Choke" is a harsh word. When a team loses 10 games in a row in May or June, it is just a losing streak. In September while they're in a pennant race, everybody says they choked, casting aspersions on their character. It's just bad timing to have your losing streak at the end of the season.

My cousin just put up a photo on Facebook. On the photo it said "The Departed.. September 28th", with pictures of Papelbon, Ortiz, etc on it. I told him that photo should also include pictures of Chipper Jones, Craig Kimbrel, Brian Mccann, etc, because my Braves had the same fate as the Red Sox.

I agree.

People throw around the word "choke" too often.

Choking is playing horrible at a crucial time. this was a crucial time. therefore its a choke. :iagree:

Choke is a harsh word, but for the Red Sox it's absolutely spot on. Case in point, they went 5-2 against my beloved Orioles in the last 10 games of the season. They had a 9 game lead on September 2nd and proceeded to go 7-20 in September. They had the playoff spot and squandered it away. This team "choked" everything away in the last month and it absolutely speaks to the character in that clubhouse and now Terry Francona wants out.
