Hi everyone!

I believe many of you have already ear about some tickling research made by a doctor in UK. Something using a robot to tickle students hands.

Well, the news is I got to see it on tv! On a culture channel in a survey about laughing, human behaviour and all that.

I can now tell you everything about it! The robot, and even the doctor doing the research as I saw everything.

The robot was somethig very simple, a kind of a box with a moving arm and it was this moving arm doing the tickling. The doctor would place the tip of the arm on the subject hand and then it would gently move back and forth when a button was pushed.

About the doctor....hummmm, she was really pretty! seemed young, on ger late 20´s maybe! she defenetely looked to be younger than 30 years old. she was blond, looked short hair and in good shape, maybe a bit thin. She looked quite interested and amused about tickling. Another funny thing...the guy making the translations to portuguese was really amused by the subject, he was almost laughing, either he couldn´t take it serious, either he just found it funny.

Anyone else saw something about this on tv????
there were a lot of images of parents tickling childs and childs tickling each other, I wont discuss these images for reasons already discussed on this forum.

Well, I hadn't heard anything about this.
They used the machine to tickle hands, you say? Kind of disappointing that they picked hands over other body parts....:illogical

The second article from Rajee´s post was precisely the thing I saw on tv.

The female british doctor I described was that sara blackmore.

I also saw the other guy speaking about his research and he made a lot of research on rats to prove they also have the need to play and be tickled.

By the way, Sara showed clearly on tv with the help of a brainscanner the region of the brain involved with tickling and the one wich allways stoped self-tickling.
