About three months ago I bought a new (used) car. Except for a few scratches in the paint it looks brand new inside and out, and I want to keep it that way. So off to Wal-Mart to pick up one of those screens you put across the windshield to keep the sun out. Protects the interior and keeps it a little cooler, in the Texas heat. More out of curiosity than anything I read the cardboard sleeve. There, in bold type it says WARNING: Remove from windshield before driving. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry...

These days, Bugman, you can't take people's common sense for granted, lol!

I was going through my old video game collection recently, and a few instruction manuals contained the sage advice:

"Warning: Do Not Eat"

A Superman Halloween costume is likely to say, "Warning! This costume does NOT enable the wearer to fly." :rowfull:

Would not surprise me at all. Pretty sad commentary on the world today, all of these examples.

More examples of these type product labels here. As the companion article points out (and if you click through, prepare to be captivated--in the true etymological meaning of the word--by Forbes' mission to elevate you with a random cloying inspirational quote), a lot of seemingly pointless warnings on products are a direct outgrowth of the over-litigiousness of contemporary U.S. society, and the apparent propensity of juries to want to stick it to deep-pocketed industry big time.

But I must say, that "Avoid death" one, kind of the ultimate in common sense.

Thanks for the links. Yes, this lawsuit happy culture will be the ruin of us. I don't claim to have any answers but something has to be done.
