I would have had this picture finished and uploaded last week, but I got held up with other things. I finished it yesterday, which is to say early this morning (since I finished it after midnight, so technically it was drawn today.)Anyways, surprizingly it didn't take me that long to draw and color this one. Because I really really like Robin I thought I'd end up spending an eternity on drawing her. Thankfully, and to my relief, that wasn't the case. 🙂

In order for you all to understand whats going on in the picture exactly, I think its important for me to explain what has led up to the scene in the picture. You see, I'm thinking about making this picture part of a Witch Hunter Robin parody, so the plot is a little more complicated than usual. I'll do my best to keep it short. Here it goes-

The STNJ has recieved from headquarters information on a witch they must hunt. Before the hunters commit to hunting this witch, they decide to get even more info on him. It turns out he's very dangerous and has previously eluded all efforts made by previous hunters to catch and/or kill him. It also turns out (for the sake of the picture's plot only) that this witch also has an uncontrollable foot tickling fetish).

So the team decides to lure this witch out of hiding by giving Robin the cover of a fellow fetishist who wants to get together. The witch does not know who Robin is, but is aware of the STNJ. So for Robin's safety and the security of the mission, Robin is wearing a wire for this sting operation. Obviously if she were to wear an earpiece it would look suspicious.

Anyways, Robin and this witch meet and they go to an empty apartment (lets just assume the witch has been hiding here). Robin's mission is to act as a decoy and distract the witch long enough for the other hunters to raid the place and take the witch out. Since he has a fetish and thats what they need to play off of, Robin reluctantly takes off a shoe and sock, and takes out a feather she has brought so the witch can tickle her and have his way.

Thats what has lead up to this moment in the parody. The building is surrounded, and the hunters are ready to pounce. The only question is, what will happen to Robin? 😉

Now I know some of you are probably thinking "why doesn't Robin just use her powers on this witch and get it over with? Why go through all this trouble?"

Simple. For two reasons. 1.) In the series, the branch of the STNJ that Robin works for doesn't believe in killing witches unless they have to. They would much rather capture them so that headquarters can learn more about their craft and how to build immunities to it.

2.) This is a sting operation. If Robin uses her powers on the witch now her cover will be blown, and the mission might fail. The whole point was to lure this witch out, and doing anything suspicious, or flat out using her powers would give her away.

Now that thats out of the way, enjoy the picture. Feedback appriciated. ^___^

A dangerous lurker.

An unquenched desire. A foot bare, a feather offered.

A reluctant soul to coax the darkness."

You say the same thing every time for every picture regardless of how it looks. Why do you even bother? You don't seem very interested in my stuff. 😛 But thanks anyway. 🙂

Awight, first of all, great pic.

Second, Nice plot.

Third, a bit off topic, but I personally think your ego is a bit too big. Chill dude, he said the pic was good. Modesty is a virtue ...

Anyway, keep up the good work 😀

Robin is one cutey I waited to see barefoot for a long time in the show, finally did in one ep and this adds to that.

@ revolter- Thank you. 🙂

Modesty is a virtue, but its can often lead to complacency. I think things need to change around here. Things need to be shaken up. For too long the artists have been getting nothing but compliments regardless of the circumstances, experience, or varying levels of talent. Thats all well and good, but I think its time for people to start taking the time to actually critique our work. Not just compliment it, but tell us why you like it, what you felt was done right, and what you felt could have been done better. This would also afford us the opportunity to help out our rookie artists who are looking for some pointers. Whose to say only artists can do that for them? Unless you have some fear of hurting our feelings I don't see why everyone has been holding back for so long.

It doesn't matter that this is a fetish forum and alot of people are only really concerned with the picture being what they want to see, as it pertains to their particular fetish. Art is art, and its always possible of being evaluated on more than one level, regardless of where it is featured.

I think the viewers/fans need to open up and be more honest and tell us what you think, even if it might not be what we want to hear. Whats wrong about this is alot of artists have been conditioned to accept nothing but compliments and well wishes. Anything else that deviates from that is considered hurtful, snide, or wrong. Its as if no one wants to hear anything else when the other stuff is very important as well and an anti-critiquing shield has been raised in defense. The artists also taking in all these positive comments and sometimes (and I've seen it happen) they think their artwork doesn't need to get better, that because others are only praising it, that there should be no desire to improve. They have created a false sense of self in their art. Some artists live off of the praise they get from others, and when they finally hear something they weren't expecting they take it really personally and that drives others to sympathize with them. So much so that the persons critiquing are the 'bad guys'.

Case in point- alot of artists, writers, and poets have become too soft and are simply not conditioned to accept constructive criticism or helpful advice from people (whom I'm assuming know what they are talking about).

So I think things need to be shaken up around here. It may be rough and hard for some people to accept the critiquing at first, but eventually they'll thank me (whether directly or in their minds) for suggesting this be brought about. They will be able to handle whatever someone may throw at them. Combine this with the strength they get from positive feedback (which shouldn't be predeterminded because of friendship, etc.) only builds a stronger character in a person.

@ Sailornapper- Thanks alot. Which episode would that be? Is it really tickling or does it just look like it? (Because I've seen the series thus far, and don't recall any tickling, though she was barefoot on a few occasions). 🙂

*cracks knuckles* Ok, C-E...your asking for it...from now on your images shall be critiqued down the finest little pixel. I will be expecting it from you in return once my works start showing up ^^

as for this picture, i'm not even attempting...this thing is damn near perfection....

@ Myst- Thats more like it. While I'm not asking you or anyone to put your heart and soul into it, a little more effort on EVERYONE'S part would be greatly appriciated by me and my peers here and everywhere.

"I like this picture because (insert reasons/comments here)"

" I think you could have done better on this part because (insert reasons/comments here)"

" Maybe next time you could try (insert reasons/comments here)"

I'm not saying these examples should be used, but I think we all get the idea. People also need to start asking more questions too.

Is it just me or is there no real artist/fan relationship here? Its "hi, goodbye, see you next time". We don't spend any time with eachother. Theres little to no conversation. Its quick, subtle, and rushed it seems. We aren't savoring these moments (which could end at any time). I would hope you are all getting just as much out of this as I am, thats my hope. I'm not just doing this for me, I'm doing it for you all too.

This should be practiced by everyone for everyone, not just myself. If you were to only critique me that wouldn't do the forum any good as the practice isn't spreading.

Also, so that I may be "practicing what I'm preaching" here, I myself will start getting back into critiquing. The only reason I stopped was because people couldn't handle it (cases of bad conditioning accompanied by my rather honest critiquing).

As for your final comment Myst, hey, I love this picture too, and I'm really proud of it, but that doesn't mean its perfect.

In cases where a picture is " that good" that no critique is necessary, I guess we could work around that. Although it does seem like cheating.

I guess the only true and honest way to approach this is to critique what needs to be critiqued. And I hate to say it, but we know when that will apply. Unless the artist expresses no desire to be critiqued, we have to assume they want to be by default. That is afterall the basis of why people showcase their work anyways. They naturally want the comments and thats the point in sharing it, but that darn negative conditioning comes into play and sometimes makes sensitive situations rough. If they don't want to recieve comments they don't want to hear, they simply shouldn't share their work then and ought to work on their self-confidence a bit more before braving the realm of art.

Hey Celtic,

Been a fan of yer work for a while. Love the way you draw feet. To be honest though? This picture at first REALLY confused me visually. Because of her wearing black pants and a black shirt/coat, at first glance it looked like because of the angle of her leg that she had a leg growing out of her shoulder, and was offering the foot up.

Obviously, I discovered looking more that it was not the case, and she's just lifting a leg high. 😉

Just wanted to give a compliment and an initial impression. Keep up the good work!

-Jer

Hey Jericho.

Thanks for the compliment and the critique. 🙂

Yes, I can see how her dress, which is long and flowing, combind with a long trenchcoat could obscure some ammount of detail, and, like you said basically, give the illusion that something is wrong. I'm glad you were keen enough to mention this. God only knows how much I've been getting away with all this time without anyone noticing or calling me on it. 😀

I like this pic, but the pink shading of her cheeks seems a bit off... After looking at some pics of this character (I'm not actually familiar with the series), I was wondering what the shading was for. Is she embarrassed? If she is, then her eyes should hint at that expression.

Speaking of expression, my favorite pic by you is the one with Yuffie sucking Aeris's toe and tickling Tifa's foot. The reason for this is that you did the expressions well. Aeris looks confused and Tifa looks like the stroking of her foot really tickles. I think Ozzy (Yenny's artist) is a good example of an artist who uses expression effectively. I think you do as well, but I'd really like to see another pic like the Yuffie/Aeris/Tifa one. I'd imagine that a pic of Robin getting tickled (complete with a convincing expression) would be great. Keep up the good work....

I quite enjoyed this image. After looking at what Jericho said and having another good hard look at the picture he does have a point about the confusion, however I can’t really see any way to remedy that other than to draw from another angle. I honestly did not see anything wrong with it at a casual glance with regards to the blending comment.

Everything else is really well done and I enjoy the fact that the picture is coloured, sometimes colours can add new layers of meaning to an image they always add to the complexity of the image at least.

In my opinion however what I presume are blush lines on her face distracted me slightly, mayhaps if you try again with those lines you should try to blend them in more. The shaping of the figure is very good, I commend you on it.

A high quality picture overall.

One more thing, about your post regarding ‘Shaking things up’ I think the whole reason critique is not offered is because of the reason you stated. That artist might get angry about someone saying something negative about one of their drawings. By negative I mean constructive criticism yet it is down to interpretation. And if the artist where to say for example: “Well thanks to ‘insert random username’ I’m never drawing again” forcing the majority of the community to respond much the same way as a lynching mob. I don’t know whether that would happen or not but I know that’s the main reason why I have refrained from posting.

I’m not an art critic typically however I know what I enjoy and I enjoy this picture. Thanks a lot Celtic_Emperor.

@ MrMacphisto- Thanks alot. 🙂

About the critique-

I agree that the lines which make up the blusing are a bit off on some of the lines. Meaning some lines were longer than others. While that is typical in an anime style picture, I see that I messed up on some lines, but generally it makes sense for them to be different lengths, especially when they are lapping around the cheeks. The only reason I didn't redo it was because I had already inked it at the point. And unless you have an ink eraser a mark is final.

As for the expression, it was my intent (based on the situation) for her to be both surprized and embarassed, yet trying her remain calm so she doesn't come off as suspicious or acting strange in front of the witch. Imagine being at a dinner party and having/wanting to impress everyone. Quite possibly the best way to do that is to remain firm, proper, and not show too much expression.

Also consider this isn't a tickling picture, like the Final Fantasy picture you mentioned (I feel the quality and accuracy of the character is far greater with this one). So her expression is bound to be indifferent or neutral.

Also remember this is a dangerous situation, all things aside. Realistically she wouldn't be smiling and she wouldn't have a completely fearful look either. I tried to find a happy medium, and I felt I achieved that- a concerned look. 🙂

@ quesecotil- Thanks alot. 🙂

About the critique-

Again, as I told MrMacphisto above, this is typical in anime style pictures, the blush lines and exageration of them I mean. While the picture is very much serious and very much realistic I felt the one thing that remains cute is the actual blush. Like I told MrMacphisto though, I did in fact make a few errors with it, and I appriciate you both pointing them out (even though I was aware of them). 🙂

As far as the blending is concerned, I was thinking about doing that, and just not drawing any lines and just coloring the blush directly to her skin, but I don't think the blush would have stood out as much. Thats just my opinion though. Perhaps next time it might look better a different way.

As to your final comment, I'm glad you bring it up. There is of course a right and a wrong way to critique. I think whats key in being fair and in not going too far is keeping in mind the current level of experience the artist has. For example, a rookie is bound to have a whole bunch of things wrong with their pictures. Needless to say thats alot of things to point out, but we needn't do that. We should only try and point out the key things and capitalize or emphasis those rather than nitpick every little thing about the picture.

I realize that with me for example critiquing might be difficult for some people because of my experience and talent. Myst for example said this picture was "damn near perfection". While I take that as a great compliment it doesn't mean that my pictures should be absolved from a critique because it might seen pointless or something.

You and MrMacphisto were kind enough to point things out that stood out to you, and I appriciate that. Its not to say I was wrong, but the opinions of others are well recieved, as is advice. No matter how great an artist may be I'm sure they'd want some feedback, even such as this.

I stopped critiquing for the same reasons you did and more. But as I said, its all in the method in which you critique. If you use critiquing as a way to verbally man-handle or abuse someone I feel thats wrong. And I reluctantly admit that I've been harsh with people before in the past, way back when.

Critiquing is nothing more than what you have done right now. No one ever said someone has to be heavy-handed when pointing out errors, or that the point in critiquing is to slander the artist or belittle their work by pointing out those mistakes or errors and meaning to be condecending. We're supposed to be sharing an opinion or observation, not down right attacking someone. We shouldn't try to intentionally find something wrong with a picture, but rather just let these things become apparent naturally upon observation.

And you're welcome. 🙂

one more comment...

Hey there again Celtic,

Great discussions on the nature of the pic and the like. Have you considered short 'comic' like series at all? To be honest, part of what I really liked about the pic, is the story surrounding such, and the situation that leaves the character looking the way she does.

I guess for a lot of things as such, easier said than done, as drawing stick figures is a challenge for me.

I'm terribly curious as to the exact events that lead up to this, and the witch's almost drooling expression with the offered obviously ticklish foot and wagging feather.

Did she make it out okay, or did she get more tickling than she could have possibly bargained for before her cohorts were ready with the plan?

Just some thoughts!

Hey again. 🙂

I'm happy that you find interest in what I have planned. But as I've noted in the other forum for this thread, I've only planned UP TO this point and not after. Therefore the plot itself is up in the air. And as I've said, the continuity of this parody will depend soley on the ammount of feedback I recieve. I was considering a poll, but then all people have to do is vote, and not necessarily say anything. The only other viable option is to wait this out until the threads are near their end and nothing more can be done with them.

Its my hope that by that time I will have enough support for this. Understand, as you seem to, that for me to continue this project would take up all of my free time and all my other ideas and requests would have to be put on hold, but you can be assured of the quality in the end for this project. While I haven't planned anything or set it in stone, I do have many ideas. Its just a matter of playing them out on paper.

I don't want you getting the wrong idea about it though, I might very well do this with or without support, but it would be a comfortable cushion to fall back on if it all flops or doesn't get good reviews.

I need your help. You the fans are more important than you think. The thoughts of knowing I have alot of support behind me on this would make it easier for me to complete the project and complete it well.

I am making a big hype and deal about this because I feel I'm at a point with my art that I have a couple choices- I can remain as I am, or I can take it all to the next level but with a cost. It may seem corny, but everyone goes through a stage with something they do where they are confronted with leaving aspects of it behind......and searching for something else..something more..I just wanted to show you all that I care before my time is over..

Welcome to the site. I hope you've enjoyed the picture. 🙂

To answer your question, I may or may not leave. But before I do, if I do, I want to create something big and memorable. Something I can be proud of as a final achievement, something to contribute to this community, and something this community can remember me by, and something with which to leave my mark. It would only be right to leave with a peace offering of some kind.

Celtic, why are ya leaving? Bored with the forum, or are you making a career/lifestyle decision that would prevent you from coming here much?

Its a little bit of both actually. Drawing this type of art can be very limiting. And I've noticed and have felt that all my art has been revolving around barefeet and tickling as of late. While I'm sure you all enjoy that, as an artist its like its become second nature for me, and thats not a good thing. Because the moment I become predictable and redundant is the moment I lose my artistic flair for everything.

Drawing this way is keeping me from using my full talent and potential. I also have been looking into talent scouts and company art competitions. These basically offer amateurs the chance to submit their work, and if you win you'll be hired for some sort of position within the company, or will be given the opportunity to help create a manga with that company. There are different terms and conditions participants must follow, but most of these companies seem to be on the level, and some of them aren't asking you to waive your rights and your art away to them, so thats good.

Basically, I'm being confronted with a choice-

I can either just keep doing this stuff for you all on the side, or I can take it to the next level and charge for it. But I'd only ever charge money if the product was worth charging over. I've seen this done by several artists here in the past, and they've somehow managed to make some extra cash on the side.

I never really saw my art as marketable until some time ago. Without patting myself on the back too much, I am a good artist, and I could make something worthwhile. The only problem is it might be at the price of discluding fetishism or anything like it from my future projects. I feel I'm at a point where if I'm going to continue this, I might as well start making some money off of it too. Rather than just spouting random updates of random pictures and getting random feedback. I was considering concentrating on making short mangas or parodies. The problem with that is copyrights. I can't legally charge for say an Evangelion manga. So I'd have to make my own series and own characters.

As I have mentioned a few times, I'm already planning a manga series, athough this will be taking up most or all of my time, and for the sake of maintaining the plot it won't be having tickling or the like in it. Thats what I meant by leaving you. I wouldn't technically be gone, but I wouldn't be here either. I'd still be viable to you all, but wouldn't be working for you like I have been.

I know some people might resent me now for this, call me a traitor or a sell out. But if people are going to be like that, they might as well tell me I shouldn't dream or have goals with my art. I'm at a point where I can do stuff with my art, and not just random this and random that. I mean making professional style mangas that will be online (e-mangas). And who knows, I might be noticed by a professional company and they may want to buy the series from me or have me work for them.

I may or may not work alone on this. I will probably need someone to help me with editing and baloons, etc. I'll take care of the art.

Unfortunately, as this idea and manga of mine starts to take life, the more distant I will become with you all. I can't be taken seriously and expect to charge money if theres nothing but tickling in my manga. Though, when possible and appropriate, I won't forget this community, and might add such scenes as fanservice (assuming theres a remnant of my fans here that would be willing to pay to have my manga.)

Whether I become professional or not, this is what I want to do. I just hope you all understand that it may mean severing my ties with this community and what it is. I was always the outsider of the artist bunch here, because of my views and such. I never did think and feel the same way as is normal and practically expected here. Its probably better this way.

If this means I lose all my members and my fanbase, then so be it. I'm sorry you feel that way. It was a really nice ride, and I'm glad to have had your company, both spoken and present and through lurking and idleness. I appriciate each and every one of you, and I hope it doesn't end here for us.

I just have new priorities with my art now, and things I want to do with it. Hopefully you'll stick around. And if not, thats ok, I understand.

Celtic_Emperor having seen an awful lot of your work over the last year or so I have been lurking, and seeing how it has developed, I believe that you could probably sell your art. The deduction of fetishism would be completely your own choice and if that is the path you wish to take, the path that you believe will bring you the most happiness and fulfillment then please take that path. To be completely honest if you did not wish to produce fetish material anymore and would rather work on a fresh angle for your art then I would give you all my blessing and hope you could succeed. I may be a fan of these images but I would have to feel pretty bad about myself if I was part of a wave of response that would potentially chain you to production of images for the gratification of others. If the genre is growing boring for you then you should find another way to branch out and continue your artistic growth and development, personally I would love to see a manga or parody from you and providing I had the money at the time (currently unemployed at University) then I would more than likely purchase it. I’m not an anime and manga fan for the tickling you know. 😛

What you have done for the community so far is more than enough, you have gone above and beyond the call of duty like all the contributors. Producing one image or story or anything else means you have fulfilled the wishes of the community, the fact that some continue to work for themselves and the community is amazing really. I don’t think I could spare as much free time as the artists and story writers do in producing material and I am grateful to everyone who has ever produced an image or story, in my opinion they all deserve respect for the contribution. To stifle artistic growth would be a lack of respect I think.

As for fanservice… I can’t argue with a bit of fanservice! 😀

It would be great to have you stay with us for as long as you can but if drawing in this style is taking away from you your flair and love of art then stop. I would hate to feel partly to blame for the destruction of a young artist who is full of potential.

You have my backing and support.

Wow, that was really...really nice of you. To be met in turn with such compassion is overwhelming on its own, without taking into consideration everything else. Thank you for hearing me out.

Although I don't feel I deserve some of the wonderful things you people say at times. I'm just one person, and its as if I've made a mountain's worth of difference to you, it seems. Sometimes its hard to grasp that and believe it.

@ everyone- Assuming you would want to buy into it, what do you feel is a fair price? I'm guess a typical issue would be around 32 pages, including the cover art, which of course would be in color as well as key moments.

I've just had a sublime vision. 😀

I can make TWO mangas. One with fetish stuff, and the regular one I'm already working on. Sure, its twice the work, but it IS possible. But can I do it alone is the question......thats a hell of a lot of work...

Sorry, I'm thinking aloud. LOL ^__^

Anyone with experience that can help me discern how to handle pricing? I'd really appriciate it. 🙂

Nah, I take that back. I won't have the time for that..

Hmm.....if there was a way I could condense the two together, that might work, but would the audiance on both sides buy it?

I don't want to create something thats going to flop or that not enough people will buy...

Think Damien, think......

How do I make it work...and will people be satisified enough with it as it is...how many people would buy it because its manga and how many people would buy it because it has that and tickling in it?..

Damn this is hard...

Indeed. But too much tickling would seen akward and might distract a viewer who is otherwise indifferent to that. Balance is key. I already have some of it figured. Its just about sorting it out.

Shiatsu Massage

Hey Celtic,
I can understand where you come from on many levels. I'm a fanfiction writer myself, and I know if I right too many stories about one series, my ideas for the others grow stale, as I keep going on the same type of character growth, plot developement, etc... I also do martial arts and I was taught early that if you do the same thing in a fight and always follow a pattern, you become weaker as a result of it.
What I mean to say with all that is... if you feel you need a change, while I will cry, scream, get angry, throw a few things about my room, and in general make a mess, I do understand and support your decision.
Might I make a few small requests? First, keep your group open. When Scamwich stopped for a while, he closed his group and all the pics on it are now gone for others to see. I KNOW there will be others in the future who see maybe one or two pics of yours and will instantly want to see the rest.
Second, stick around! Your words about people critiquing are honest, and you'd be a good example for the rest of us (plus we'd be sad if you left :sadcry: )

Now finally to your picture. As I haven't seen this series myself I can't be a great judge, though I am looking at some pics of Robin right now. I'm gonna point out everything I see, I just hope this doesn't offend in any way.

The white frilly cloth around Robin's neck looks to be almost a pearl necklace. Maybe connecting the round parts rather than having them seperate? No other clothes issues.
Her hair seems slightly limp, as usually anime characters have that gravity defying hair. The pics I'm looking at has her hair as very straight and firm, whereas yours has a slight wave to it. Otherwise hair is fine.
Her expression, while I can see your reasoning, is slightly odd. I could see a highly nervous face, due to her both ticklish and dangerous situation. I could also see an excited face, due to trying to act like she really was a fetishest. You said her she was surprised and embarrassed. Embarrassed I can see, but wasnt she informed on the nature of the assignment? If so, why would she be surprised. If someone shows no emotion in their expression, many would interpret it as being slightly peeved about something. Simply some views.
You might want to put some small SOMETHING in that white area on top and the top right. You already have most of the picture covered by the character and the chair, adding in that final touch would give the final look of reality.
Now something I have never commented on, but I guess I'll go on and say it. On some of your pictures, you tend to draw the feet with a slightly swelled look. This in not the case on this one, though there have been a few that seemed a little chubby. I might be the only one who views it this way though, as everyone has different preferences to drawing type and style.

Now that I am done critiquing, I can compliment. The coloring of her skin is RIGHT ON. I did a couple color checks, and the shade you used fit the sample pictures I have found to almost a perfect match. The shading on the clothes is very good, I know black clothes are a pain to do proper shading for in some cases. Her features done to the point I would be able to identify her based on her face alone, I believe (most pictures I would rely on clothing and hair).

Wow, THAT was long ^_^. Once again, if you decide to stop with your tickling artwork, I understand, but know you have this fans support. From this day on, I SWEAR to do better reviews (and to review for that matter) for all in the forum. I greatly enjoy your artwork, and appreciate what you've done. I can't wait to see your next work (which seeing as how I haven't been able to check TMF in a LOOOONG while, might be as soon as I finish typing this ^_^) and I hope that whatever you choose to do in life brings you happiness and contentment.
...
...
...
So, was that a good critique/compliment/review or WHAT?!😀

Good? It was better than good. My faith in the system has been restored. 😀 😛

(And I was only contemptlating, I never made a decision. I suppose I can stick around a while longer.)
