I know there are a few Wrestling fans on the TMF, and it's all WWE/TNA (and I know Wrestlings not technically a sport, because it's all scripted, but where else on the TMF would you post about the squared circle?). Now I've never been crazy about the WWE, (except for in the mid-90's during the Brett Hart-HBK fued). WWE matches are incredibly slow-paced and boring, although it's definitely improved since the 80's during the Hulk Hogan era. I used to love the old NWA, and the early days of the WCW. I used to enjoy TNA, before Bischoff and Hogan turned it into a watered down WWE clone. But a few months ago, I discovered a little-known wrestling organization run by Jim Cornette called ROH (Ring of Honor wrestling). It's only on in a few markets on the east coast and mid-west, but if you enjoy actual athletic pro wrestling(instead of overrated pretty boys like Randy Orton and Triple H) then check out ROH. Some of the old TNA wrestlers(I guess those who didn't suck up to Hogan/Bischoff) are currently in ROH. Check out the following match(even though the slap-fest in the middle of the match was kind of silly)

Austin Aries, Christopher Daniels, Bryan Danielson, AJ Styles, Alex Shelley, CM Punk, were some of the biggest ROH wrestlers and they eventually went to TNA/WWE

Also should be noted the original founder of ROH was caught on to catch a predator

I prefer Dragon Gate to ROH but in your OP, I wouldn't rate Orton as overrated

And Claudio Castagnoli, Tyler Black, Chris Hero too.

I've had the pleasure of seeing an ROH show live in Richmond last summer. Missed out on Chris Hero because of flight problems, but the main event, an awesome tag team match between the American Wolves (Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards) and the House of Truth (Michael Elgin and Roderick Strong with Manager Truth Martini) was nothing short of a joy and a great way to end the night. Whats great about ROH is that they don't let the presentation get in the way of the wrestling. They have some music and some short promos, but they let the action speak for itself and boy does it ever speak. They're coming back to Richmond in May so I have to think about paying up to go down there and see that action again.

Ring of Honor comes on a few times a day on Saturdays here in Baltimore, and is a fantastic product from a pure wrestling standpoint. Don't go into it expecting excellent production values and guys who cut great promos (though there are a few who are pretty decent). But, as stated, can't go wrong with the actual wrestling. It consistently kills the competition as it comes to the pure athleticism. Definitely recommened for hardcore wrestling purists.

Has anyone watched Maria Kanellis match in ROH? I wonder if she has improved since she left WWE.

I could be wrong, but I think she's only serving as a valet for Mike Bennett. Aside from Maria, the only females listed on their site are Mia Yim and interviewer Veda Scott.

Davey Richards is probably the next ROH guy who will eventually jump to TNA or WWE, more than likely the latter

Anyone who grew up on old school NWA/WCW will probably like the product a lot as it's very similar. I think 2006 and the CZW invasion/Homicide returns as company saviour was my favourite time.

I believe the WWE is trying to obtain the Brisco Brothers but ROH are being hardball about it as they signed contracts.

I think she just became ROH's female champ.

According to Wikipedia (I know it's not 100% reliable), she has a new finishing move.

I live in the bronx so I have been to a few shows at the manhatten center. Roh reminds me of early ecw. Tickets are cheap as hell but the show is fantastic.
