now that the hollywood brother has read book seven of the dark tower series, he wonders what do people think of it and more importantly how many of you picked up the first dark tower book right after putting the new one down.

where are all the king fans out there tonight. the hollywood brother knows he not the only one that has been rooting for roland for years

Well, I have to be honest.

When I was younger, Stephen King was all I read. The Dark Tower series was(I thought) his crowning acheivement.
I read all of them. However, the best by far was THE WASTELANDS. The reason I thought this way, was at the end, they introduced my all time favourite character, Randall Flagg, who was a reocurring character throughout a lot of King's books.
I couldn,t wait for THE WIZARD AND THE GLASS.
After several years, it finally came out. I was excited. I wanted to see what would happen to roland now with Randall Flagg in the picture.


To my absolute shock, the book segueyed into Roland's childhood instead!
All those years waiting for nothing... I was so filled with rage, I threw the book across the room.

That was the last time I ever read the series.
King had said that he would probably never finish the books, and I assumed that was his last gasp. I wasn't about to wait another decade. I stopped reading the rest of his other books a long time ago because the quality was going to shit.

I'm not much of a Sephen King fan any more. To be honest, looking back in retrospect, I don't think Stephen King is a very good writer. The only books that I would still read today, would be PET SEMETERY and IT.

I sincerely hope you have a better experience than I. You seem to enjoy the books, as would I if I hadn't felt like I had been royally fucked up the ass.

PS: So, is Randall Flagg actually put to good use in WOLVES OF CALLA?

my best friend agrres with you. The hollywood brother loved the wizard and glass book as it movedstory forward and gave you a glimpse into roland. The hollywood brother never knew up to that point that roland had his offspring burned at the stake.

Now if you ever give it another shot, then you will find that the characters from wizard and glass become very relevant later on i nthe series.

Also the thing that floored me was how the dark tower got woven into so many of his stories and that almost all his works get put into chapter 7. The hollywood borther never read nothing like that before.

If i was you, give it a shot. By being so pissed off, it proves that roland was a great character and his worlds were very real to you.
