Anyone gonna order? This is the only PPV besides WM that I order from the WWE these days.... I'm rooting for Batista for the rumble match itself... A few shockers may happen, SPOILER!! Do not read below if you do not want to be spoiled!

Rumor has it not only will the Iron Shiek make a rumble apperance but Brock Lesner may be the number 30 guy. Just rumors but it could happen.

Drew and I have been pretty selective in which PPVs we get too. We always do the Rumble and WM...but rarely the others now. It seems a waste to get them when all they do is copy the same matches on Monday or Thursday. But, if it looks like it will be particularly good, we get it anyway. So, to answer your question...yep. We'll be watching.

AFA special guests who may or may not show...I would imagine that Steve Austin is another likelihood with all the promotion they've been doing...though I doubt he'll be in a match.

I'd love to see Batista win the rumble and go on to beat bigmouth....errr...Triple H. Then, I'd REALLY love to see a role reversal in evolution with Triple H being a lacky to Batista and Rick doating all over him. Could make for some amusing situations.

Me, I wouldn't be surprised to see John Cena win the Rumble. Assuming JBL beats Angle and the Big Show (which I expect will happen), they'll need a new contender for his title, and having Cena win the Rumble would be a good way to start that feud. Cena's at the point in his popularity where he needs to move up to a higher level than the US title.

I expect Batista will get the "Diesel push," getting to eliminate a lot of people and look impressive, but I don't think he really needs the Rumble win to start a feud with Triple H. Some folks have suggested that he might be "accidentally" eliminated by Flair.

Too bad the rest of the card is pretty much a waste of time. Edge/HBK could be good, but I'm not exactly holding my breath for the Taker/Heidenreich casket match.

Not that I am into wrestling anymore but the really Iron Shiek died 2 years ago. A little FYI.

as to the Iron Shiek being still alive:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0891443/...E9SXJvbiBTaGlla3xodG1sPTF8bm09b24_;fc=1;ft=21

as for what i'd like to happen at the rumble, i want edge to beat hbk and i want taker to beat heidenreich...and i want jbl to lose that damned belt already, but i don't expect much of a surprise out of the main event itself...i think new year's revolution was an indication of how things are gonna stay :sowrong:

I keep hoping McMahon will all of a sudden be watching JBL in a match, snap to reality, and say "Holy crap, this guy really sucks. Why do we have a belt on him again?" But that will likely remain nothing more than a dream of mine. Bleaugh.

As for the RR, I'll most likely be rooting for Batista. I've liked him for a while now, and I'm really glad they are gonna turn him face. It's unbelievable how freaking OVER he is with the crowds, and the fans need a good, big, believable, and entertaining face in the hot seat. Orton is good, but he's not quite in that "ultimate" league yet. With the right push, good timing, and the right feuds, Batista could be 'it'.

I thought since you said I was wrong. He died 2 years ago at the age of 68 of an apparent heart attack. It hit the newspapers a week after his death. Whoever is playing the Shiek now is not the same person from the 70's and 80's.

"The Sheik" is the one who died. "Iron Sheik" is still alive. "The Sheik" died in 2003. But "Iron Sheik" is alive and well.

"January 19th, 2003. 'THE SHEIK' died from liver and kidney failure." (quote from the 2004 Wrestling Almanac)

Hope that clears up the confusion.

I have not watched wrestling in a long time. Was there 2 Mimi? I did not know that so my apologies for being ignorant and sticking my nose where it does not belong.

No apologies necessary, feet. It's quite easy to get things like that confused. 😉

A very good PPV from the WWE tonight, IMO... A lot better then some of there stuff as of late. A few comments...

The HBK-Edge match was solid. However, I really would of liked to see Edge beat HBK fairly and not by cheating.

The Taker-Hedenrich match was decent... This was the first time since Kane buried the Taker alive that both men were in the same ring together.

I am HIGHLY pissed that JBL kept the title... I can't believe it... Does Vince have a major hard on for this guy or what? I was rooting for Angle here.

I do not know what to think of the Orton-HHH match... Was Orton really hurt or what? I can't see the match ending the way it did unless he was...??

The rumble match itself was good... I was kinda dissapointed that the IRON Shiek or Lesner didn't make an apperance... But I am glad that Batista won.. His reaction when he came out was HUGE! I am also glad they made the rumble match restart.

I really hope this Paul London kid is ok.. Snitzky fucks up yet again and nails the kid full force in the nose, you could hear the POP... The kid then hits the floor head on and was bloodied when carried off.

The funniest thing of the night by FAR was Vince trying to play off his injury. For those who didn't see it... Vince comes power walking to the ring with a beat red face, rips his jacket off and slides into the ring.. His knee hits the ring and as he tries to get up he falls straight on his ass... Nobody knew what to do or think and Vince is sitting on his ass in the ring, now white as a ghost... Funny as hell.

Taker/Heidenreich was, as I expected, ugly as hell. Just one blown spot after another. Heidenreich has no idea what he's doing in the ring, and Taker isn't the guy to carry him. Apparently they're planning a Kane/Taker v. Heidenreich/Snitsky match for Wrestlemania -- if that comes off, it'll be far ahead in the running for worst Mania match ever.

I'm pretty sure Paul London's injury was a work, but it just left me shaking my head. If you've never seen London really wrestle, try tracking down some ROH or Zero-One tapes. He's incredibly fast and agile, and can give Rey Mysterio a run for his money, but WWE doesn't seem to want to actually do anything with him.

I doubt Orton's injury was legitimate either, but yeah, that was a lame way to finish the match.

If London's stretcher job was genuine, it would definitely be a "major injury."

Did you hear the thump after he hit London? Also watch how he lands... It may not of been serious but it was real and not a put on... No reason to put something like that on with London's status.. He had a pretty nice cut, may of been a mild concussion, that is why the stretcher could of been called. You can see the ref go right down to London and talk to him then immediatly raised his hand in the air which means bring out medics and the stretcher.

Orton's was indeed legitimate, he had a concussion. If you noticed how hard his head hit the canvas, he banged it pretty good. I don't think you can fake a concussion. Snitsky is taking heat for the London injury, and it is obvious Snitsky/Heidenreich needs to go back ot OVW for some seasoning, because they are both sloppy, and don't know what they're doing.

Overall, the Rumble was decent, but it didn't provide enough momentum to give serious buzz toward Wrestlemania

I do agree that JBL is a bum, and have no idea why McMahon likes him so much. He is a terrible wrestler, always have been, even when he was with the Acolytes, and now had the nerve to call himself a wrestling "god". Made me wanna gag

Actually, Orton's injury is part of a upcoming story line....

From PWI:

For those who asked, no Paul London wasn't hurt by the clothesline bump he took. It was an angle, which was tipped off by the way they put him on the stretcher. Also, Randy Orton's "concussion" was also an angle, which I expect will continue tonight on Raw. Vince McMahon's leg injury was the only serious one of the night.

Hey Meems, how could London's be an angle when his head was nearly taken off?? Did you see how he landed?? And if Orton's is an angle, where is it leading towards??

Let's not exaggerate. London's bump was basically a Shooting Star Press off the apron.

As for Orton, well, I'd say the fact that his "concussion" played a part in the finish of both the RR match and the Raw match suggests that they do indeed have an angle planned.

Ask yourself this: if Orton really had a serious concussion, would they have sent him out the very next night to wrestle? No one will ever accuse Vince McMahon of being overly compassionate toward his employees, but he's not stupid either.

Anyway, we've now got two usually reliable sources, the Observer and PWI, both saying that both injuries were a work. Wanna go for three and check the Torch? (warning: possible popups)

http://www.pwtorch.com/artman/publish/article_11745.shtml

-Randy Orton didn't suffer a concussion. That appears to be part of the storyline of the match and may be part of where they're going from this point with Orton. The concussion storyline could possibly play a significant role in a shift of how his character is portrayed. With Batista taking over what was originally scheduled to be a Rumble win by Orton (months ago, when the original idea was that Orton was going to have to win the Rumble to earn a title shot against Triple H at WrestleMania), Orton has to change to not appear lost in the shuffle. It's acknowledged - even by him - that his character has gone off course, so some moves will be made to give him a new direction.

-There were no injuries of note on the show. Paul London was fine after his dive. Others who appeared banged up were just bruised.
