Okay, I am a huge Giants fan. And, I am really fed up with seeing the Buster Posey Clip of him getting run over by Cousins that led to his season ending injury. I've noticed that there is some activity to the TMF sport discussion and I wanted to know if you think there should be a rule change to protect the Catcher in Baseball.

Personally, as a former catcher and Giants fan, I believe there was nothing wrong with cousins collision and I do not believe that there should be a rule change. What do you think???

I totally agree with Johnny Bench. Posey should have moved to the side yet protected the plate by allowing him to slide, in fact expecting him to slide.

Again, Huge Giants fan, I did not like was Our GM said about Cousins on the Radio. It makes Giants fans look like babies. (For all you dodger fans, im sure you thought that already haha). I was talking to some friends, and had Buck been taken out in the bottom of that inning like Posey, nothing would be said and this issue would never have happened.

What makes me laugh is a little over a year ago, Jason Hayward pulled up when there was a play at the plate, and every single person was talking about how Hayward should have ran the catcher over due to his size advantage over the catcher. You move from one extreame to another in little over a year.

Posey had half the plate covered. Cousins could have slide around it. But, had Posey come up with the ball, and Cousins attempted to slide he would have been out. But, he didn't come up with the ball and its hard to change your mind in the last second. Try telling PRINCE FIELDER to slide when there is a play at the plate.

I thought considering the circumstances Posey did give up some of the plate BUT the runner in most cases can't determine that. It's either they allow collisions or don't allow collisions at home plate. I would rather see them change the rule, Don't allow blocking the plate and thus no collisions. As an ex-catcher you can take the throw in front of the plate or behind the plate. That being said I was run over pretty bad in my sophomore year in high school. I held on to the ball and the runner was out. I was so pissed after the incident, I said I would never let that happen again. In the very next inning I blocked the plate twice and destroyed two runnners. When runners came in high, for the next 20 years (hardball, softball) I would block the plate and stiff arm the guy with both hands to the throat, very effective!

Back in the All Star Game in 1970, Pete Rose bowled over and injured Indians' catcher Ray Fosse at the plate, just to score a run. Fosse was a promising rookie who, because of this, never reached his potential. No one asked for any rule changes, least of all, Fosse, who was a trooper all the way.

Have we all become such wussies that people ask for rule changes if someone breathes wrong?
