Rush Limbaugh first gets fired for saying a "racist" remark on ESPN and now he is under investigation for illegally securing prescription drugs.

I want to first say something about Rush's remark. Rush claimed that media was desperate to see a black quaterback succeed that they built up Philadelphia quaterback Donavan McNabb, and that Mcnabb was never that good in the first place. I believe this more stupidity than racism. Mcnabb may be struggling this season, but I have seen him destroy my team. He is a good quaterback. While black quaterbacks are still the minority they are not that big of a minority anymore, and they are succeding in the league. The media does not need to build them up. I just do not think that Rush comprehend that. In my opinion, Rush belives if minorites are succeding in an area that they traditionally haven't then it must be due to to "liberal" media. Rush is a big fat idiot.


Now as for his illegal securing of prescription drugs, I normally would not care, but this is a man that has called for stiff penalites against drug offenders. So if he truly feels this way and he is guilty then I do not feel he should be left off with a slap on the wrist. I know damn well that if Jesse Jackson or Bill Clinton had been accused of the same thing, he would have been all over the airwaves calling for stiff sentances.

I too believe Limbaugh is an idiot. What he said about McNabb was uncalled for. McNabb is a hell of a player, but Limbaugh was correct on one thing, without their Defense Philly wouldn't have won all those games. At best McNabb would have a slightly losing record. It has nothing to do with his race by any means. Fact is Phillies strength is their defense, McNabb is playing poorly but their defense isn't all that stellar this year. Once their defense settles down it won't matter what McNabb does.

Now. Can you tell me exactly what Limbaugh did that requires stiff sentences? While I don't like the guy, right now it's his word against hers, and she IS a drug dealer. I'm not saying he's innocent, what I am saying is all the people here who mis interpret the Constitution always seem to do so in a way that is most convenient to them.
If you're talking about his comments about McNabb, well they weren't illegal by any means. ESPN SHOULD have stood behind him. What he said was misguided, and wrong, but not something he should be sacked for.

Actually it has been written up in almost every major newspaper. It was also on CNN. I think Rush should be scrutinized the same way he scrutinizes others. Do I think that is fair? Yes. If it was anybody else I could care less. Honestly, I think the drug laws in this country are a joke. Rush, however, constanly shoots his mouth off, about hippies and druggies, and calls for stiff penalities against those that break the drug laws. I think he should recieve the justice that he calls for. Of course only if this is all true. It is only alleged. Finally I'll say this that there are just as many liberal hypocrites as conservative ones and that is why I have a distaste for most politicians.

I have to agree with Tieler on one point.... Rush had NO business doing the show in the first place. NONE! What does he know about sports #1? (besides playing high school football and working public relations for the Kansas City Royals for a minute or two) and #2 He has made money over years and years spouting off mess that is controversial. Controversy does boost ratings and it brings in more dough.... HOWEVER- He was hired to work in a position that did not fit his usually sought expertise of saying whatever stupid ass thing that comes to mind just to get more people to watch the show.

Not only is Rush and idiot... But whatever ESPN dumb dumb who thought Rush was going to make it on ESPN without offending somebody (something he was paid to do most of his adult career) should be fired too. Or at least demoted. EVEN I could figure that out.

He said the wrong thing on the wrong show. Had he been on talk radio, people would have been free to call in and tell him off.

He didn't say that. What he said was MCNabb may be given too much credit and it might partly be because he's black. That isn't racist. Yes it's stupid but far more stupid things have been said on national TV,

Fact is, if you're going to use a sportscaster or writer as the basis to compare LImbaughs knowledge to, then you're using the wrong yardstick. Sportswriters aren't any more knowledgable about professional sports than you people are. Fact is the only people who are knowledgable are ex pro athletes. They're the only ones who have competed at that level, so they're the only ones who truly know what it's like. No one here, except me, can really comment about how much certain sportscasters know and don't know. Any of you who comment about Limbaughs ability and right to be on a pro sports show are also complaining about yourselves.

Many of the sportscasters are ex-pro athletes. Most of them excelled at their position at the pro level. Even they cannot agree most of the time.

The sports media were questioning Kordell's decision-making skills even when he was doing well with Pittsburgh. Until Randall made his comeback with Minnesota, he was never given much direct praise, even though he was one of Philly's more succesful QB's at the time.

NFL coaches were questioning Kordells decision making skills, but you are essentially correct Dave. Rodney Peete always sucked, but he should never have been a quarterback. His body is too tightly wound for it. It always effected his throwing motion. Cunningham.. Could have been a great one, He had good decision making skills, then for some reason stopped using his athletic ability..

AS for Donovan.. He has a decent won and loss record, but has never shown an ability to flat out beat a team. If his defense plays well, he wins, if they don't he loses. He's nowhere as dangerous as say Steve McNair who usually can win a game he shouldn't be able to.
Fact is, compare Donovan to many of his contemporaries and he comes off as a bit below average, oh his stats are good but the game isn't about pass average.
For instance, in the last 3 years he's been sacked OUTSIDE the pocket 24 times. In other words he's getting caught in a area that's supposed to be his strength. 22 of these sacks killed important drives and in 19 of these games the Eagles ended up losing. Most of his interceptions have come from outside the pocket. This is telling you he doesn't manage a game well, and when forced to use his athletic anbility he turns his brain off. He also doesn't do well IN THE POCKET. This isn't a product of trying to make things happen, it's simply a problem of not being a very good Quarterback. Tom Brady, a man with much less athletic ability AND more importantly much less offensive talent around him has far better career stats, is a proven winner, and doesn't put his team in a bad position. When confronted with pressure situations Brady played two nearly perfect games. McNabb folded.

If Limbaugh had left the race card out, he would've made a perfect point.

Iggy i'm not talking about the ex pro sports casters. Jackson, Young, Bradshaw, Long, Theissman actually know something, and are good at relayoing that knowledge.

And yes, if you want to be knowledgeable about the pros, you've had to have played on that level. The TMF proves that point.

Take this topic, how many of you all focused on Mcnabs won and loss record? Or his touchdown throws? Not one of you looked at any data besides that, NOR would you have thought to look at it in the manner I analyzed it in. Any decent NFL player, or Ex NFL player or coach would have looked at it exactly the way I did. The game in the pros is a totally different sort of game. The level of play of even the BAD players is that much better. The speed is unbelievable, the intensity of the contact is 10 times that of any other level. No one who hasn't played at that level can understand the mentality or physical discipline it takes. What you had 3 seconds to decide in your junior high careers you have .3 to decide in the pros. At .4 seconds your ribs are either broken, or a guy went by you so fast you'll have to watch the films to verify you were actually anywhere near him. There is a reason professional athletes call the fans the Rubes. It's not out of malice. It's more that the fans, who most likely had an imagined football career actually believe their money gives them a right to tell a player how to play better. No one doubts the fans have the right to criticize, after all they paid their hard earned dollars, BUT for a fan to claim any knowledge to improve performance is ludicrous. Same with the sports writers.
The best Pro Announcers:
Young, Bradshaw, Long, Thiessman and his partner (LOL his name escapes me!!), Tommy Jackson (A Pros Pro and a hell of a fine classy guy), and Spencer Tillman (who unfortunately only does pro games when guys are sick). What do they have in common? They're ALL ex pros.

Amazing how after all this time, they still obsess over him, like he's Satan, like he's some omnipotent presence, when he was merely a very human politician with very skewed values and ethics. Some Americans think of their leaders in terms relating to comic book superheros, for good or ill. A totally fascinating mindset! Of course, George Dubya panders to these people, referring to our enemies in comic book terms (The Justice League of America vs. the Axis of Evil, etc) and oversimplifying world affairs so that anyone who moves their lips when they read (LMAO, remembering his father's most famous phrase) can understand.
