Saints

stats dont matter in the playoffs, look at the steelers last year they were 19th in passing and 17th in running.. not exactly a "championship" offense

and look at the cardinals they had the worst running game in football by a pretty big margain and they ran it down peoples throats in the playoffs

so what im saying is who cares what the saints d gives up they are scoring what they need to, to win the games

While I'd like to see the Saints and Colts in the big game, I think the coming from behind and giving up a bunch of points early in games is going to catch up with them in the playoffs.

Going by that bit of logic, the 49ers and Jets have championship caliber defenses because they've scored a few TD's... and look where they are... and I'm not ripping into the defense. I'm telling it like is it. They have a difficult time stopping people and that's going to bite them in the ass when the playoffs roll around. I mean hell, Jason Campbell looked like a pro-bowler against their defense. Additionally, if they find themselves behind by 14 points in the playoffs, it won't be as easy to comeback.

Did I say that the 49ers and Jets have Championship caliber defenses? Now you see I don't recall making that statement. You want to twist words on someone? Don't pick the master word twister to try and do it with.

As far as Jason Campbell looking like a Pro-bowler sometimes this does happen. You can't tell me you haven't seen an inferior player play out of his mind for a game or two against great teams. Because I know I have. There have been players who aren't that good that will have an incredible game once in a while.

Again, the Saints played an emotional game on Monday night and then play an inferior team at 1:00pm on Sunday on the road. If the game were in New Orleans this discussion wouldn't be happening. You know that is why they call some games trap games. Have you heard the term? Do you think the Redskins versus the Saints is a trap game for the Saints?

Keep in mind...sometimes bad teams beat good teams because they it makes the bad team's season.

Man, you crack me up. THIS is what you said:

Oh...and a defense that can score that many times is indeed Championship caliber.

I took what you said, reviewed stats on NFL defenses and applied them to your formula. The 49ers and Jets have both scored quite a few TD's which by applying your formula would make them championship caliber. I did NOT twist your words... although if I wanted to, I'm a pretty good semantician. 😉

In addition to Campbell, the Saints made quite a few middle-of-the-road players look like all-stars. They allowed the lowly Lions to score 27 points, same with the Giants and Falcons (who almost got shut out last week) and had to come from behind to beat the gimmicky Wildcat offense in Miami, the struggling Panthers and horrific Rams. Those are quite a few let-down games if you ask me. I will give them credit on the Pats game though. That was a good effort.

Bottom line, we're just going to have to agree to disagree because neither of us is changing the other's viewpoints. I still think the Saints are going to be in trouble in the playoffs because giving up a ton of points and barely squeaking by less than mediocre teams will come back and bite them.

Thanks, Coup. My valued friend here doesn't feel fulfilled unless someone's arguing with him about things 😀

Well, if nothing else, the Saints can dodge bullets like no one else. The Redskins game was even more intense than the one between the Colts and the Patriots.

That being said, it looks like the Colts might go all the way this year... They've had some close games, but Manning is a strategic master.

If it does end up as the Colts vs. the Saints, the Colts will have to depend on strategy to win. The Saints will likely have to depend on scoring faster than Manning -- which is no easy feat.
