All good picks, but Dennis Miller belongs in there too. Guy's good.

Eddie, of the small flat with no windows Izzard. Because he's the kinda crazy, fooked-up guy that I like and (sometimes, on a blessed day) sometimes am similar too 😀.

Well Steve, I guess we'll have to disagree about Don Knotts and Jerry Seinfeld. But you're right about the other two. Bobe Hope should have gone in my first list, and Andrew "Dice" Clay in the second.

I forgot all about the great Paul Lynde, Drew70. He was awesome no matter what he did: Hollywood Squares, Uncle Arthur on "Bewitched", the voice of the villain on "The Perils of Penelope Pitstop". The guy was just so talented.

Also got to mention John Belushi, who could get more laughs with his eyebrows than any of the so-called "cutting edge" comdeians today.

And even though he's not too well known in this day and age, Ed Wynn belongs on this list. He did a lot of goofy things in the 50s.

"So, I walked into his office, and I said, 'what is it?' He said, 'a hundred dollars a visit.' I said, 'For a hundred dollars, I don't visit. I move in.' Then, he hands me this inkblot, and he says, 'what do you see from this inkblot'? 'I see that you need a new fountain pen!' So he takes a deep breath, and says, 'the problem with you is that you hate your father'. 'It just so happens that I have the highest respect for my father.' 'So, you hate your mother.' 'I love my mother'. 'Maybe you got a cousin you hate?"

-JACKIE MASON

And, yes, Drew...Paul Lynde was marvelous, wasn't he? I miss him, he died too soon.

Knox, remember when Paul Lynde used to play the near-sighted doctor on "The Munsters"?
He always said the same thing when he shook Herman's hand:
"Oh, I see you bought your doggy with ya."

Drew

Lotsa great picks, but let's not forget Bob Newhart, Bill Hicks, and Steven Wright. Emo Phillips is a hoot, too!:veryhappy

Yes, Drew...I do remember! Right now, I'm trying to stifle my laughter, the wife is asleep on the futon in the den...
Paul Lynde was hilarious on 'The Munsters'. He was also great on 'I Dream of Jeannie' when he was coordinating a survival exercise for Majors Nelson and Healey. That was unforgettable.
Best of all...in the near future, I plan to visit the Museum of TV and Radio in New York. I plan to catch at least one episode of his own sitcom, 'The Paul Lynde Show' (1974), which was slammin'.
You want funny people? Remember that guy who made periodic appearances on 'Mork and Mindy', the goofball who called himself 'Exidor'? He was incredible. I never knew his name, but he could have you wetting your jeans.
My interests, thanks to technology, have branched out. I picked up at Borders last week, on DVD, episodes of the BBC series that 'All In The Family' was based on, 'Till Death Us Do Part'. It's not the same, in fact, it's somewhat more dialogue driven, and some people might have trouble getting past what would be known here as the very hard 'cockney' tongue. Nevertheless, it's stupendous.
Stand up? George Carlin, especially when he was awash in controlled substances. After he cleaned up, he became more strident and angry...
